thanks for the reply moz. You are right about the removal problems and worries around state of repair the brick work will be in once it's all chipped away. It seems the general thinking is it may be better to render than remove. going to have another look at the house today - fingers...

thanks for speedy response, TE. The door clicks shut but the 'delay lock' (by that i mean the lock remaining locked for a minute or so after a cycle has finished) that hasnt engaged. I can open and close the door normally after selecting a cycle and hitting the power switch. Nothing happens...

I have a bosch wfb 2004 washing machine that's just given up the ghost. When set to the normal programmes we use, nothing happens. No noise of rushing water as usual, nothing. Just sits there. I've cleaned out the pump as best i can - seems OK. I suspect it may be the door connection...

Beyond the need for adding rsj support, are there many issues around knocking through a load-bearing wall which contains a fireplace? The wall seperates a dining room and recently-added conservatory and was originally an external wall. photos here if it helps...

yes, but i must admit we tend to leave it turned off at the isolator switch.(Reason being it's very noisy - are ther makes more quiet than others?) I appreciate that action doesn't help with keeping the paint on the ceiling!
