Mistake made whilst re-pointing - how to clean mortar off?

I've made a bit of a mistake during my 1st repointing attempt on my house. I only did a small area as a trial but have been left with mortar residue on the surface of the bricks I pointed - white coloured smearing on them. I'm guessing I didn't wait long enough and spread some of the mix over...

    Damp coming back?

When I moved into my house a couple of years ago I had a damp problem in the front room. I had this sorted out by a company. However recently (approx 2 years later) I have noticed a discolored patch just above the skirting board on the chimney breast - which was part of the area affected. It is...

Hi, I recently bought a couple of Biasi radiators that i'm using to replace the older rads I have at present. However one of them didn't come with mounting brackets. Wiring an Electric Fire - Alternative to a double socket

Hi, at present my electric fire is simply plugged into a double socket. However this isn't very neat. Can anyone suggest an alternative way that I can connect it? I'd rather have an FCU or something similar. There's also a spur off the double socket already. Thanks for any help!

How to size up a replacement radiator bleed valve??

The bleed valve on my radiator snapped off recently. I've drained the radiator down and am ready to replace the valve. However when I looked in B&Q they didn't have the right size. I then ordered one online which I thought was the correct size - I measured the thread diameter which is approx...

Small leak from cap nut on thermostatic valve

I have a small drip coming from the cap nut of the thermostatic valve on my radiator. I've tried tightening it, but there's still a drop appearing although it takes a long time. I've just put down laminate flooring, so I really don't want even a slight leak. Is there any way that a can make a...

Thanks for the advice Is it ok for me to fit a new flush socket -> fused spur -> unswitched socket? Then get an electrician in to connect it to the ring? That way i'm not dealing with anything live in the kitchen and breaking regs.
