    Poor flow rate to taps.

Yes, there is an adjustment screw on the PRV but altering it had no effect as did its complete removal from the cold supply. I did not check to see the PRV manufacturer.

    Poor flow rate to taps.

Sorry, should have made this clear originally: they are direct supplies. It is also the case that my friends suffer from low water pressure from time to time. They moved into the flat a few months ago and say that these taps have got progressively worse. Any idea why they would have been...

    Poor flow rate to taps.

Having a real problem with the water supply flow rates through a friends bathroom taps. He has two bathrooms with the basins of each being positioned back to back, the supply to one being fine. The problem taps are both wall mounted and supply one of those glazed basins that have no overflow and...

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

Bit late replying back but had a powercut last so couldn't log on. Anyway done it!. Thanks guys...boy, that was exciting. :) What I did was I opened the connector to the WC live and quickly plugged it with a blanking cap; not much spillage really. Then I was able to remove the WC thus...

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

Blimey, am I really likely to have to deal with this volume of water? I suppose I could pop up to Wickes to get one just to be safe.

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

Thanks for the comments guys. Because there are only four distribution pipes from the cw storage tank - presumably each pipe feeding four flats each of this sixteen flat building - plugging the outlet from inside the tank would mean effectively stopping, albeit temporarily, three other flats. As...

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

Sorry guys, I should make clear that this leak is not from a mains pipe, it is fed by a tank. Clearly the obvious thing to do here would be to drain the tank and fit a few service valves. Problem is that three or four other flats are currently unoccupied with their owners away on holiday and the...

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

This is a rather complicated situation in a large (poorly maintained) 5th floor flat in a 30’s block where a leak has occurred on a WC (inlet valve connector) in one of the bathrooms. At one side of the flat is the kitchen with the hot and cold (mains) appearing to have their own service pipes...

    Advice on pipe-freezing kit

Can anyone recommend a decent pipe-freezing kit, please? I am unable to get sufficient length on the 15mm pipe behind a WC for the 6/7inch jacket of one of the cheap and cheerful £20 jobs. So instead I want to try and get something like an Arctic Polar Ssytem. They are about £90 - £150. Any...

What's the best paint for exterior wastepipes?

The neighbour has already purchased the wastepipes (white) and elbows (grey) . The other wastepipe serving the same flat is also painted black. Yes, it does look naff but at least in this case there is consistency in the naffness.

What's the best paint for exterior wastepipes?

What is the best sort of black paint to use to cover exterior plastic waste pipe? Thanks in advance for your help.

Double check valves.....can they restrict flow?

Actually, you could be quite right there as the basin with the weedy flowrate is one of those glass jobbies without an overflow. Perhaps then it is compulsory to fit PRVs in this case. I must say I couldn't work out as to why there would be DCV's in this position. Thanks for any advice.

Double check valves.....can they restrict flow?

A friend of mine has two basins in two separate bathrooms mounted symetrically, back-to-back, on a stud partition wall. The flow rate to one sink through both hot and cold taps is fine but through the other both hot and cold supplies are very poor. The only difference is that the sink with the...

Will upgrading to XP SP2 eliminate virus and trojans

Thanks very much indeed, Pip. I will get on with this right away. I will keep you informed, if not enthralled, with any progress. Thanks again for the links.

Will upgrading to XP SP2 eliminate virus and trojans

Right, I have run a scan using TDS 3. Found loads of bugs. I want to purge the lot. Seems very good value but (sorry to ask this again) is it safe to go ahead and do an on-line transaction when there are so many bugs in the system?

Will upgrading to XP SP2 eliminate virus and trojans

Igorian: Thanks, Ian. I shall, as they say, refer myself to your earlier work. Yes, I do have an SP2 disk but I will try to eliminate the miscreant software before getting on to that. I have used the MS stuff in your link but as yet this has not eliminated the said bugs ie GoldenPalace.com ...

What qualification is needed to instal a leccy shower?

Very surprised to hear that, Ban. After all, surely there is a minimum qualification required for installing electric cookers and leccy showers are at least equal re power rating etc? Also if you were installing a shower consumer unit you would need to work on the supply side of the main...
