chrome will be the plating....the cast plate will probably be brass..

Its just 2 different methods of producing metal plates.....a cast plate may have a perceived quality due to increased weight but arguably may be more prone to tarnishing due to them being more porous..... Upshot is.....once they're on the wall you could hardly tell! :)

Hi Is this dimmer being used in a 1 way circuit? If the answer is 'yes' then you don't have to worry about a slave unit. You would purchase slave unit(s) if the master dimmer was going to be used in a 2 way or multi way circuit as that remote dimmer is not designed to work on a 2 way...

How can a 2 way dimmer be a rotary switch? .......unless i've missed something a 2 way dimmer can only be push/push....

Rather than just mentioning random chinese dimmer manufacturers.....perhaps a specific aurora dimmer code that would actually help the op may be more useful :D Outmyway.......did your dimmers life coming to an end happen to coincide with 1 or more of your GU10s blowing?

One must assume that the 2 gang intermediate that you found at TLC wasn't exactly what you were looking for..... Tell us what finish or type of 2g intermediate you want and advice will follow....

Thanks Mark.. What I didn't add was that in my humble opinion a 2 gang dimmer with one working only as a switch, looks a lot better than a dimmer/switch 'grid' combo.....

bite the bullet and use LEDs designed for a bathroom..... They are expensive because they are designed so that you don't keep killing people who use your bathroom... :D
