Is there much difference between cast switches and plate switches apart from the fact that cast are slighty more in cost?

you'd expect cast to be metallic, that's why they are more expensive.
Other than the connection to earth as it's metallic.
The difference is hardly any, oh they will weigh a bit more!
I assume by cast, you mean die cast.
and plate are plastic?

chillout....please clarify what you mean. :D

cast brass as distinct from cold pressed plate?

Well Im purchasing some chrome switches and the manufacturer makes them in cast and plate metal. I think theres a difference of £4 between the two, but when your buying loads it soon mounts up! Does that make more sense?

Well the difference between a roller and a mini is quality, are you saying the plated ones are rubbish then? If so why are they so?

Johnny KC yes thats exactly what I mean! The difference between the two.

Its just 2 different methods of producing metal plates.....a cast plate may have a perceived quality due to increased weight but arguably may be more prone to tarnishing due to them being more porous.....

Upshot is.....once they're on the wall you could hardly tell! :)

Cheers Johnny, will prob go for the metal plate ones then. The manufacturer said thers not alot od difference but wanted to clarify it with someone independent. Like you say once on the wall, dont think they'll be much difference. Ban all sheds I dont know much about this stuff. The manufacturer said they produce some using a 'cast' and are a bit more in price.
