Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

I think we will be getting a wireless stat as they forgot to wire it in (!) but it seems like the most sensible place would be on the wall under the stairs which is away from the front door and the radiator. Thanks so much for all of your help guys, it is massively appreciated! Dave

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

That's a very good point, we do indeed have 2 fireplaces in the sitting room so it makes sense not to have it in there. So I guess it makes sense to have it in the hallway then? Thanks so much for your help, Dave

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

We may as well get a wireless stat as it's not wired in :) We have an Ideal Logic + 35 Combi, are there any particular ones you would recommend? And you would have thought we would have discussed it properly with our installer but he wanted to put the room stat in the sitting room (with TRVs)...

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

So if you were me would you put the room stat and bypass radiator in the hall or the sitting room? Bearing in mind it's a Victorian terraced house and we've removed the wall between the sitting room and dining room so it's now one big room with 2 radiators in it (so presumably if the room stat...

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

Hi Armo i just wanted to be sure about the lockshields before I bought them, so 2 of the Terrier ones I linked to would be okay for the bypass rad? And I was working on the hallway because stem said "This is because in a lounge, there are often supplementary heating sources such as a fire, TV...

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

So by the sounds of it the most sensible thing to do would be to have the radiator in the hall as the bypass (with no TRV) and have the room stat in the hallway as well? I have been advised to get the Drayton TRV4 Thermostatic Valves...

Where to put room stat/bypass radiator

Hey everyone, We are currently renovating our house and have had a new combi system put in and are about to replace all of the radiators. The room stat is (in theory) going in the sitting room/dining room (which used to be two rooms but we've taken down the adjoining wall, so there's now 2...

Should we add insulation under our first floor?

Hi John, Thanks for your speedy response! We will have painted floorboards in the master bedroom so it's probably a good idea to put some down in there to prevent too much talking/tv etc noise coming into the bedroom from the sitting room? The other bedrooms and upstairs hall will have...

Should we add insulation under our first floor?

Hey everyone, We are currently renovating our c.1900 Victorian terraced house in London. We have stripped out the entire property and are sanding the pine floorboards on the ground floor. The master bedroom will have painted floorboards and everywhere else (apart from the kitchen/bathroom!)...

    Best clear floor varnish/lacquer/oil?

harbourwoodwork: What you say about it soaking in makes sense but I would rather use a method that I know is as durable as possible so we have to redo it as little as possible so ideally would like something off the shelf if at all possible? foxhole: I understand pine is naturally...

    Best clear floor varnish/lacquer/oil?

Hey everyone, We are in the process of renovating our victorian terraced house and have sanded the floors on the ground floor which are old pine boards. We obviously need to seal them but i order to keep them light we would like a completely clear varnish/laquer/oil in order not to colour the...

Hi Greg, we are in the process of sorting this out at the moment but it looks as though we will...

Hi Greg, we are in the process of sorting this out at the moment but it looks as though we will need full planning permission unfortunately as the extension is more than 3 metres long so does not fall under permitted development rights, which is very annoying! :) Sorry to be the bearer of bad...

How thin can concealed frame/cistern for wall hung toilet be

Hi Helen, I'm afraid my join date was last May but this thread was only started last month so i'm still debating the best way to go (although we are probably putting the toilet in a different place against a new stud wall so it's not quite such an issue for us as it was). I would love to hear...

Are integrated fridge/freezers standard fit for ikea cabinet

Hey everyone, We are having a new kitchen fitted in a few months but don't currently have a proper fridge or freezer so wanted to buy an integrated one we can use now and then fit into the kitchen rather than buying two. It will be using IKEA base cabinets and the fridge freezer will be...

How thin can concealed frame/cistern for wall hung toilet be

Hi Bathclick, thanks very much for your comments. When you say it needs about 135mm is that including the boxing in/tiles etc or are you saying it needs that gap because the measurements state it's 8cm from the external wall to the front (excluding tiles/ply etc)? I am very interested in the...

How thin can concealed frame/cistern for wall hung toilet be

Hi Charnwood, the two i linked to above are 8cm and 9cm deep respectively so these should allow us to have about a 10cm boxing in. Would you say there's any reason to use the electroflo over these slim frames, i'm not bothered about a button push vs a IR sensor? Do you (or anyone else) have any...

How thin can concealed frame/cistern for wall hung toilet be

Thanks very much for your reply charnwood, that looks interesting i've never seen one of those before! The only thing i'm wondering is we will still need a frame to hang the wall hung WC on which means we are presumably still going to need about 10cm to fit this in which means that we won't...

How thin can concealed frame/cistern for wall hung toilet be

Hey everyone, We are redoing our bathroom and want to put in a wall hung toilet. The bathroom is already relatively small and we want to make the frame and concealed cistern as thin as possible so the boxing in isn't too deep. It's against an external wall of the house so can be attached...

Permitted development for side return extension?

Hi freddymercurystwin, Thanks so much for your detailed response, it is very much appreciated to get that confirmation. I am going to go and discuss it with a local planner to confirm their local policies and see if there's anything else we should be aware of then get all the drawings done...

Permitted development for side return extension?

Hey everyone, Myself and my girlfriend have just bought a victorian terraced house in Stoke Newington, London (in the borough of Hackney) and want to do a side return extension to increase the size of the kitchen. I have spoken to Hackney Planners to try an establish if this can be done under...
