    Can you connect microbore pipes?

It's actually a significant nick (not a scratch). I did it with a circular saw when chopping the floorboards... The plumber did try dribbling solder onto it but it didn't look like it would be very strong - it didn't stick well.

    Can you connect microbore pipes?

Can anyone advise on how much to tighten compression joints on micro bore pipes? There is a small nick in one of my central heating's 8mm micro bore pipes, it's not leaking (yet) but I don't want to leave a damaged pipe under my floor... My plan is to cut out the section of pipe with the nick...

Hi there, I hope you can help me: My Candy go282 washing machine no longer functions correctly - when selecting a wash, spin speed or other option (eg Fast Wash, Allergy Care etc) the machine doesn't cooperate - the LED for the selection will light briefly but will then immediately revert...

Joining lead pipe to plastic then to copper...

http://www.melimatic.com/26.html Actually this chart says '3/4" lead pipe' has a diameter of 1.233". I could shave the pipe down to this and use a 3/4" 11lb fitting, this would be great... hopefully I can find a supplier!

Joining lead pipe to plastic then to copper...

I wish... It's on its way to the bathroom so I'd have to rip up the kitchen floor then the hallway then the bathroom. However, I could easily run it through the loft then back in through the bathroom ceiling! The only drawback being heat loss, probably insignificant if I insulate the pipe...

Joining lead pipe to plastic then to copper...

I phoned Philmac's technical help, they advised all their products were for cold water only... This is for a hot water pipe.

Joining lead pipe to plastic then to copper...

I want to cut out a section of my lead hot water pipe and replace with plastic. The lead pipe has one pinhole leak and another leak where it joins the copper pipe (see picture; the tape is redirecting the leak from the join). Plastic would be preferable as the section from the lead to the...

    Collapsible / folding shower rail?

I have a Victorian pulley airer (called a 'kitchen maid'?) for drying clothes sited above my bath. The problem is that this will clash with any shower rail I put up around my bath - as the rack is lowered from the ceiling it will bump into the shower rail on its way down. I know you can get...

    Expanding foam gum not working?

I left it for ten minutes, came back and it was working! I had used acetone on the gun, maybe it was soaking through a blockage at the valve... I guess that's why you recommend inverting to clean? So it soaks this area? Or to blow aerosol through it rather than foam? I was surprised I...

    Expanding foam gum not working?

I have a 'bond-it' gun that I've used once (worked very well). However I just put a new can on it and... nothing but a dribble comes out of the gun. I've cleaned it and held up to the light - I can see all the way down the barrel so that part is not blocked. As a last resort, I unscrewed...

Candy washing machine heats water too high

I have a Candy Go 282, 3 years old. When I set it to a 40 degree wash it heats the water to somewhere around 90, it shrinks clothes and I can feel the glass on the door is really hot. I still have the free 5 year parts guarantee, so I could get a replacement part. It might be related to the...

replacing vertically mounted bath taps on cast iron bath

I have an old bath with the hot and cold taps mounted on the vertical face of the bath. I want to install a shower and was hoping that I could simply replace the taps with a new set that had a shower attachment. Anyone know where I could get a set? My only other option is to plumb in a...

candy grando go 282 flashing lights

Can anyone help with a problem I have with the same machine? It's a Candy Go 282, 3 years old. When I turn it on and try to press the option buttons (spin speed/fast wash/allergy care etc) the LEDs change to the desired option and then revert back. I have to keep pressing the options I want...

    Pot hanging cowl, and vermiculite

the OP still hasn't been answered. I can't see how these cowls can be fitted with both straps tight and with poured insulation. You can attach one strap to the liner then lower the whole thing down and onto the chimney pot, but how do you get the insulation in? Alternatively you have the...
