    Prep for new lawn

I have been out with a fork and turned over (to a depth of the full fork)the large muddy area at the back of our house. In some areas it turned over and broke up easily into fine light soil, but in other areas it wasn't beaking up very easily as it had a good amount of clay in it. In these...

    How long to lawn

I've been reading all the posts about laying a new lawn, it doesn't look too dificult so I will give it a go and lay a new lawn for us. The area is about 60 sqm, once all the prep is done do you think I can lay the turves on my own all in one day? Many thanks.

    Seams opening up after papering

Once I have lined the walls can I hang the paper straight away or do I have to wait for a day or two? Also, do I need to 'size' the lining paper before I hang the Sanderson top paper? Many thanks.

    Seams opening up after papering

We have a wall painted blue, I want to paper using a paper that is yellow. I'm worried that if I don't get the paper fitted perfectly, or if the seams shrink slightly you will see the blue down the seams. I'm sure I have read somewhere that you should work out where your paper will meet...

    armoured cable in the garden

I just need a light and a couple of double sockets in the shed. So if I have enough armoured cable to reach inside the house, can a different cable be used to take it to the most appropriate socket? I'm just wondering how much armoured cable I can leave coming out of the ground at the...

    armoured cable in the garden

I'm having some garden works done and want to take the opportunity to run an armoured cable from my shed to my house, I will get an electrician round later in the year to connect it up. At the house end; is it okay to leave enough distance on the cable so it can reach a house socket? Or does...

Don't sand Artex, some Artex (older than 2000) may contain low levels of asbestos.

    Repairs

Thanks 1john, On the inside of the bathroom; Should I scrape the one coat away a little and finish with easifill so I can get a smooth finish? Outside; The electrician asked me to place the metal casing that the switch will fit into. So I should hold the casing with clout nails, use one...

    Repairs

Please see picture of the inside of my bathroom and one of the outside. I have just banged a couple of holes in the landing wall ready for an electrician to fit a couple of switches for a new bathroom fan. My banging popped the tiles off the bathroom wall and some of the plaster came away...

    Dirty plasterboard

Travis Perkins delivered some plasterboard sheets, a couple of them are filthy. I am going to board and then get someone in to skim. Do the boards need to be clean? I've also heard that boards need to skimmed soon after they've been installed - is this true? Many thanks.
