Painting doors laid horizontal vs vertical, using Bedec WB paint

OK, I've been a bit dim. Of course the doors won't be cured by 2nd - doh!! I''l leave all painting till after they're hung, which suits me, cos can then paint them over a period of weeks. I finally caught up!! Thanks for your help, and patience!

Painting doors laid horizontal vs vertical, using Bedec WB paint

I was going to do one coat undercoat and one top coat before hanging, then touch up and last coat afterwards

Painting doors laid horizontal vs vertical, using Bedec WB paint

Oh dear. I am feeling stressed by attempting to get these 6 doors painted, ready for the carpenter to start hanging on 2nd Jan. Just removing the sticky labels and sanding (see previous posts) has eaten up a lot of my time. I used to be able to get a really good finish with olde style gloss, on...

Should I sand the primer, or undercoat then sand on primed doors?

Hello again! I've got Howdens primed doors that have a routed detail. https://www.howdens.com/doors/internal/primed-doors/primed-internal-linear-door-obj-sku-family-dir1560 In many places the router has left some roughness - you know the kind of hairy edge you get when you cut something like...

Getting the label adhesive off Howdens primed wood doors

Thanks Adam and Opps. IPA worked - have some in a tiny bottle, left over from about 30 years ago for cleaning cassette playing heads. Good to hear of those products if/when it runs out. Meanwhile I am using hairdryer to warm the other labels. This keeps the glue on the sticker as I peel it off...

Getting the label adhesive off Howdens primed wood doors

Hi folks I've bought primed wood doors from Howdens, and I'll be painting with water-based undercoat and top coat. There's a 7" label on the side of each one. Water and a rag takes the paper of the label off, leaving the adhesive. Usually I'd use lemon oil to remove this kind of adhesive...

    Insulating a condensate pipe

The CondenseSure wasn't an option as Flow and Return leave top of boiler, and Condensate pipe at bottom. So I called https://www.pipelagging.com/ who supply Armaflex pipe insulation. There is only one designed for outside use - Solar High Temp Outdoor Lagging. For 22mm diameter pipe, the 13mm...

    iplayer on laptop won't play

Hi folks, wonder if you can help. I'm using my laptop to access BBC iplayer but it won't play any programmes, the busy pink 'busy' circle keeps going round. I can watch live, and I can listen to old radio programmes. I did an internet speed test, and it was nearly 9Mbps download which is...

    Insulating a condensate pipe

'Nearby' not an option for me JohnD. (And btw surely Brexit is now a clusterf*ck . . long surpassed the omnishambles stage)

    Insulating a condensate pipe

Ah, ok. I thought 'syphonic trap' IS the CondenseSure!

    Insulating a condensate pipe

Thanks breadnbutter. I get it that 32mm pipe will take longer to freeze up inside than a 22mm one, and maybe the cold smap will be over before that happens. But isn't the advantage of the trap that it holds the water in the trap which is being warmed by the flow, and that it discharges not drip...

    Insulating a condensate pipe

Thank you folks for the replies. I think a CondenseSure plus 32mm ext pipe is the way to go for me. Will get the registered installer back in. Many thanks Mary

Thanks Pete50, out of interest, what were the symptoms it had frozen?

    Insulating a condensate pipe

With difficulty as boiler is right up against outside wall

    Insulating a condensate pipe

Hi folks I've read the other threads about insulating a condensate pipe that runs outside, and opinions seem to vary between 'it won't freeze' to 'use a trace heating'. Last two winters, the condensate appeared not to freeze, ie no problems with the boiler. But the foam insulation has worn...

What's the best order for new carpet, paint walls and skirting boards?

Hi folks I've decided to re-do my hall, stairs and landing. What's the best order to do things in? If I paint the skirting boards before the carpet's laid, won't the carpet kickers damage the new paint? But so much easier to paint without carpet there. What do you recommend? Thanks folks Mary
