New extractor hood - No earth, can I put a plug on it?

I've got an unused built in extractor that was given to me gratis. However there are no instructions present in the box and at the end of the flex there is currently no plug. So I was wondering, assuming the appliance was double earthed is there any reason why I cant attach a 13A rated plug...

Uneven bathroom floor prior to fitting wetroom

Would I be able to get away with 12mm ply or is that too thin? I'd have marmox or wedi thermal boards on top (10mm) then the 3.5mm heating element then finally the grout and tile icing layer :)

Boiler suggestions for large two bed Edwardian Flat

Where can I find the clearances required for the Atag boilers? I don't seem to be able to find them on the specifications shown on the Atag website :(

Boiler suggestions for large two bed Edwardian Flat

Currently just m'lonesome (gf lives in Norway). If I were to sell the flat I would imagine it being bought by a couple. I plan to rent it out and expect it to be occupied by 2 sharers with the occasional "guest". I don't think I can foresee many occasions when the bath would be used at...

Boiler suggestions for large two bed Edwardian Flat

I'm considering my options for a new boiler for a large two bedroomed first floor Edwardian flat. Currently there are 8 Rads, 4 large single glazed (probably to be changed to dbl glazed sash windows in the main living room and bedroom) and about 6 metres of dbl glazed sash windows in the...

    Soil Stack Vent Pipe

Its not possible in this case either, but thanks for the suggestion. I think I shall safely apply the "if it ain't broke.." principle here. It stays as is and gets boxed in with the new wall hung cistern frame. Just gotta level the floor first! For info: the soil stack AAV was...

    Soil Stack Vent Pipe

Nothing under the pipe clip. I think I read that the AAV has to have its outlet higher than the highest overflow. In this case I guess that would be the overflow in my kitchen. Can anyone confirm this to be true, if not the case am I able to lop a few inches off the top of the soil pipe...

Uneven bathroom floor prior to fitting wetroom

Think I may have a better solution than all the above. I will pull up all the floorboards, find some 6x2 or similar and bolt/screw these to the existing joists ensuring everything is level. Once that is done, I'll brace these "new" joists at 90degrees to the same levels effectively...

Uneven bathroom floor prior to fitting wetroom

I will shortly be fitting out a wetroom in my ensuite. The room is small, about 2m x 2m and unfortunately has a very pronounced sloping floor. Its a first floor flat, wooden floorboards on sizable joists. I'm pondering using the existing slope as a basis for the shower drainage - the fall is...

Wiring in new Oven and induction hob.

Can anyone offer guidance on the proposed oven spur, or should I just wire them both into the existing cooker circuit?

    Soil Stack Vent Pipe

Hmm may well be the case, although I have stuffed a dustbin bag in the exposed soil pipe and carrier bags into the sink and bath drainage points to minimise this and to keep out building dust/etc. Clearly this isn't enough to keep the nasty niffs away. Anyway, I'll give it a damned good...

    Soil Stack Vent Pipe

Hi, Looking for guidance for my soil stack vent pipe. I have a first floor flat and am refitting an ensuite bathroom. On ripping out the old fittings and tiles I uncovered a soil stack vent pipe. It was boxed in, but it seems a little strange to have a vent terminating inside the house...

Wiring in new Oven and induction hob.

Firstly, thanks again for all of your comments and help. Secondly, I haven't started any of this work and I haven't yet purchased anything with which to do the same. The reason being is that I am simply researching the correct methods of doing something before launching into it. If it seems...

Wiring in new Oven and induction hob.

On looking a little more into this, I wonder if I may be ok putting both the Oven and the induction hob onto the existing cooker supply junction box protected by the 32A MCB. Ok this would be with using Diversity and I do see the arguments against applying these rules where it comes to...

Wiring in new Oven and induction hob.

I hear ya, and after seeing that its not as simple to fit in the induction hob as I had first thought I'm tempted to agree with you. It's just that I like the flush look of the induction hobs and more importantly they are so much easier to wipe clean! I take it that the 20A FCU to the oven is...

Wiring in new Oven and induction hob.

@ 17thman Thanks, I understand you. Essentially the worse thing I could do is up the 32a MCB to 45a without uprating the cable accordingly. That is what I first thought but wanted clarification, thank you. Going back to the proposed changes... I want to have the oven built in to a tower...
