lol, what you mean you dont take your own plates to a resturant? :D unfortunately (for me), he has just had his 2nd child and therefore with paying work & his extended family, a little busy and therefore trying not to pester him to much. and therefore back to the consumer unit. what would...

    Consumer unit (RCD)

the external socket is a weatherproof (ip66) unit so hopefully wont do that. The reason I wanted the whole system on RCD was electricity & salt water dont mix, and i often have wet arms :o)

    Consumer unit (RCD)

I am getting a sparky friend to wire up a shed & will be putting in a 4way RCD consumer unit to manage the sockets (1), Lights (2) and external socket (3), plus leaving 1 spare in the CU. He is taking his time and therefore to hurry things along I am going to buy the CU, but as the price varies...

    External Sockets

would you prefer that people didnt ask? and as stated earlier I asked the question because I was unsure as if I had observed 2 load connection points I would have known what it was for, but I took a quick glance at the back of the unit, whilst have a 4yr old in tow and only spotted 1 load...

    External Sockets

arr so there should be 2 load (L/N) terminals? I only saw one & that is what confused me.

    External Sockets

cheers for the reply. I am still undecided on how to wire up the socket, but as the RCD unit does not have switches I would like to have an internal socket that can be switched on/off at will to isolate the external socket. I did take a look at some fused spur units, but got confused as they...

I am thinking about taking up an old concrete slab patio and replacing with more modern sandstone apperance slabs. Is there a site that offers a tool there if i enter my garden dimensions with will work out how many i need and display the layout with a combination of 600x600mm, 600x300mm &...

    External Sockets

The external RCD unit arrived and I wired it in, although it did confuse me a little as normally when i have wired in sockets (shed project) i had to put an earth from the socket to the socket housing, but the RCD didnt have a 2nd earth connection point, but only the standard L/N/E ones. Is...

    External Sockets

thinking about it, the RCD protected plug may not fit in the external ip66 socket casing so may have to remove the RCD plug. Anyway, the rating of the spa as per the user manual is 220-240AC 2650W (is this what you mean?) as for what size conductors, plus ring or radial i will need to...

    External Sockets

I have just brought a lay-z spa & an external RCD 2 Gang (IP66) socket to power the spa. Anyway, i was thinking of spuring off a socket in the kitchen to feed the external socket, but didnt really want the external socket live all the time. So could I sumply get an extension lead, cut of the...

    External Cabling (depth)

I have finally got hold of some 6mm SWA cable to run from the house to the shed (30m) and now awaiting the sparky to do the wiring. Anyway, the problem is that I have recently turfed the garden and dont fancy digging up my nice new turf for a trench to lay the cabling. Saying that along the...

    Shed Insulation

John, you cant really see but there is 2x2 running length/width ways on the floor at stagger intervals to increase overall support. Then the instulation is placed in between.

    Returfing over turf

I am currently looking at returfing my back lawn and hoping to borrow a rotovator, but failing that, what are the downfalls of simply laying turf over turf?

    Armoured Cable Size

it might be better to future proof & go for 4mm then again may just go for 6mm as originally advised.

    Armoured Cable Size

I am currently waiting to connect up a shed/fishroom to the house mains & as per a mates instructions has advised on buying some armoured cable to run from the shed to the house. He has suggested 6mm, but working out the wattage that seems like overkill, but i fix PC's & he's a sparky. Anyway...
