my neice has a w redg punto with electric power steering and has lost aLL power. main dealer says it is the power steering motor and it is not a diy job, involving removal of the steering column. cost is 600 quid inc!. am i being ripped off?

don't be afraid to speak to trading standards,they are very nice people and only to willing to help. do this if not for yourself then to stop any one else being ripped off!
don't know much about deisles but have you checked the turbo pipe for cracks . more than likly an ecu fault. if it runs ok i would be temted to do a visual check on all mechanicals , fluids ect and keep an eye on it.

if the finish feels rough , get the finest wet and dry you can find ,even worn out. use lots of water untill it is silky and then lots of t cut and good polish untill shiny. hard work but well worth it. you will only need laquer if it is metalic.
