    Thermostatic shower valve

As part of a local council grant that has been awarded for the construction of a disabled bathroom, it stipulates that an anti scald electric shower must be installed set a maximum of 43 degrees. I would rather not have an electric shower but a thermostatic one fed by a system boiler or combi...

Security flood light - microwave detection?

How likely is it to prevent false triggers e.g. windy outside or a fox or other animal triggering it? Suggestions for a good LED wattage?

Security flood light - microwave detection?

I dont want to over think this but I understand that those cheap £15 500w security floor lights have come a long way in the last 15 years. Someone mentioned to me to get a microwave sensor one to do away with the PIR plastic thing on the front and also go for an LED version. Can anyone suggest...

Doing a big extension and changing electrics \ plumbing \ boiler

Thanks. But it does not make sense to me. Will BC come out with testers and check light switches, sockets and the main fuse board and the cable itself to see if it is of correct thickness/amperage etc? Surely certain trades will require specialist knowledge?

    Permissions required?

I was thinking the same - how you going to prevent water coming down your way some 0.5m to 1m below soil across the width or length of your garden? How much is this roughly going to cost you to get sorted?

Doing a big extension and changing electrics \ plumbing \ boiler

Are you sure BC can sign off on electrics? Since when do they come around and start testing everything? I'm in a similar situation except that my builder will be getting around a certified electrician to sign everything off.

    Ring doorbell pro

Sorry my iPhone auto corrected. The sentence should have read "what are the downsides compared with other SMART door bells". I'm getting one anyway since it will operate like a normal one and I want the ability to see and know who is approachonf my door when I'm not there. Sounds like...

    Ring doorbell pro

Has anyone installed the Ring doorbell PRO version and do they recommend it? What are the downsides compare to other small doorbells? I'm fed up waiting for the Fibaro zwave version. As I don't have an existing hardwired doorbell as we are renovating a house could someone please tell me...

    30m2 outbuilding

I did indeed read that but I guess I was looking for some sort of written confirmation that the definition of floor area does not include the overall footprint of the building (inc cavity).

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Can I ask where this is verified or confirmed?

    30m2 outbuilding

Well mainly building regs, but I want to make sure I dont fall outside the scope of PD either because I dont you can build a 40m2 outbuilding under PD even if you get building regs approval? So on that logic, if I am building an outbuilding of 30m2 which is internal size, and I dont account for...

    30m2 outbuilding

Correct, it is for building regs. I just mention PD because it's not subject to a planning application.

    30m2 outbuilding

Does the max 30m2 outbuilding under PD refer to internal sizes or should I include external wall to external wall ie inclusive of cavity in the overall 30m2 calculation?

Thanks for the feedback Can I ask how much that all cost...just to give me an idea. I understand setup etc might be different. How much space did you need to allow for on the cylinder?

    Door linings - which wood?

I have lots of new door linings I need to order, some are very large depth sizes (300mm+). Spoke to a few suppliers. Some are quoting £120 for a single door lining because of the size (soft wood) and other £200+ for Tulip or other makes. They are suggesting not to go for pine because of knots...
