    Poor Shower Installation

the plumbing is just as bad, why didn't he use the top entry and lose all those elbows. Re the cable to the switch, I know its shoddy but is it contravening anything with the outer jacket being removed but enclosed in trunking? bit like singles in conduit. (if thats what it is)

    Floor socket

I have floor boxes with sockets and cat 5 installed into tiled floors. As the cleaners dont tend to sling gallons of water around during a mopping session, water never makes it to the sockets. As far as I can tell, there is no greater hazard here than a floor box installed in a carpeted office.

    Bosch WVT1260 not drying

OK, before i shell out £140 on a new fan, im a little suspicious of the capacitor for the fan. there are two browns on one side and a single brown on the other. The side with two browns reads 240V and the single brown side reads about 76V How do I test the capacitor?

    Another gem on eBay

I cant see a problem with it either. how many 240V extension leads do you see with black flex, white flex, orange flex etc. B&Q also sell ext leads with yellow arctic flex fitted with BS1363 plugs.

    Bosch WVT1260 not drying

The thermostat had tripped but it seems to be because the fan wont run. I checked for voltage and got 240 on the brown, 0v on the blue and 240 on the black. Presumably this means the fan is at fault?

    Bosch WVT1260 not drying

Hi, Today my WVT1260GB has developed a fault in the drying cycle. The clothes are not drying or even warming. The machine doesnt seem to be making as much noise as i remember, a fan not on maybe? There are no error messages on the display Any ideas? thanks

    Mem fuseboard

Before I was responsible, someone fitted 3 630a MCCB boards in 300mm cable using the L1 Brown L2 Grey L3 Blue N Black. The covers were off for ages, I went spare, pointed it out and the solution? Fit the covers. Still like it today and its confusing, both in the board and the sub

    Mem fuseboard

well, there isnt a problem with one fuse blowing, just like using BS88s on a 3ph circuit. I see what you mean now, only one side of the centre tapped tx was fused :) MG do a two phase kit for their boards, is that what you used? the black dot often melts and falls out leaving a live...

    Mem fuseboard

are we talking DC here or AC? there isnt anything wrong with fusing both phases in that situation, or am I missing something?

    Metal Halide High-Bays

I have lots of sets of high-bays and all but one set have tubular fittings. there are sons which dont have safety glasses and some eliptical open rated MH lamps with safety glasses. I have seen special tubular lamps for low bays which dont need the safety glass but they can only be installed...

    Metal Halide High-Bays

Hi, I am trying to buy MH lamps for some fittings at work. I have obviously confused the local supplier because we currently have high bay fittings with tubular enclosed rated lamps fitted without safety glasses. The lamp is an Edison EDHPIT400, so basically, I need an open rated version...

    New Eaton Memsheild 3

I have never seen a board like that, usually go for MCCB boards. What is the biggest high load way you can use? is it 125A? Looks pretty neat anyway

Thermal overloads / oil filled contactors.

that looks just like our powerhouse but ours isnt as clean :) flooded, full of who knows what, its sad really. Its hard to believe how they had mosaic floors and glazed brick walls, decorated better than modern offices

Thermal overloads / oil filled contactors.

What date would you put on that? We have some similar stuff in our derelict powerhouse I thought it was DC stuff. sadly its all been vandalised. Seems a bit excessive for sp supplies. I think I have the remains of a mercury arc rectifier. Loads of wooden CT transformers too, Ill have a better...

BV dotted all our sockets to show that their martindale tester had shown 3 amber neons. That must be good then :)

    joining cables in dado trunking

I thought as much, but the seed of doubt had been planted :) I hate chock blocks full stop, always find them at work from the smoke from them as they burn away
