    Dimmable spotlights

I have recentl purchased a couple of sets of mains voltage dimable spots, don't look any different to the others I have. One cheap set I have in the kitchen (not sold as dimable) do not work at all well with a dimmer switch. They dim slightly then flicker and go off if you turn them down too...

Couple of quick supplemental bonding questions

As part of our new extension we have a shower room (with shower, wc, basin and towel rail) and a en-suite wc (toilet, sink and towel rail). I have notified BC that I am installing the electrical work, they are inspecting 1st fix and getting somebody to test afterwards. Q1 I appreciate...

Have any of you tried any of the economy spotlight bulbs or LED spotlights? I'm looking for some feedback as to whether they are worth investing in (They ain't cheap!)

    Dimmable spotlights

I have a number of ceiling spotlights around the house, some are labelled as dimable and some aren't. What makes a spotlight dimable? And can non-dimable ones be upgraded?

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

Out local 'greasy spoon' has a hot chilli with chips and melted cheese, that'll clear you out - hotter on the way out than on the way in

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

No, more aromatherapy etc. Is that comment based on personal experience

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

Point taken  However the toilet room will be used by my wife's clients (Holistic Therapist) so needs to at least look reasonable.

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

Bit harsh, I am trying to be realistic on my budget. Trying to avoid the £60 from B&Q and wondering what you really get for the extra money - certainly compared to a £150-200 one. Plumb Centre can do me a Dudley Phantom concealed cistern for £56+VAT and a back to wall toilet for £56.64 + VAT...

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

The figures mentioned previously are my 'real' budget, however I may be persuaded to spend more for a hidden cistern as I think it will look a lot nicer. But I wouldn't be prepared to spend a lot more for a basic toilet and I don't know how much a toilet would be to go with a hidden cistern.

Where to get 'cheap' but reasonable quality toilets?

We are just finishing the inside of our two storey extension, this includes a en-suite toilet and seperate shower room. I now need to purchase two white toilets, B&Q sometimes have ones for £59 but are these really going to last or are they just too cheap? There is a reasonable range on eBay...

Making good where coving is removed

I was wondering about that sort of product but hadn't heard from anybody who has used it. I was also considering using the skim used over taped seams on plasterboard, this should sand down to a fine finish.

Making good where coving is removed

Because we have taken down the internal wall between our kitchen and dining room we now have had to remove the coving from around the ceiling to match. In some places the plaster has fallen off, I will make good on this with a quick skim. Because there is no paint under the coving but...

Advice on fitting T connector in tight space

Thanks all for your replies. I tackled the job last night and after shutting off the stopcock and draining down the pipes found it quite easy to solder in a standard T connector. I took the advice and attached a piece of hose onto each end of the pipe after I cut it and blew out the...

Advice on fitting T connector in tight space

I appreciate that, I am planning on cleaning them, I was more remarking on the fact that they are not covered in old solder, paint etc. just general dirt which will come off with wire wool etc.

Advice on fitting T connector in tight space

Hi all Thanks for the replies. I may pop out and get a slip T at lunchtime to give myself a few options. I don't want to be stuck with a cut pipe and no way to re-join it at 8:00 tonight! The pipes are approx 18 years old and relatively clean so I think solder would hold ok, I was...

Advice on fitting T connector in tight space

Unfortunately all pipes run through the noggins/solid strutting so there is no chance of wedging them away. Is there no chance I will be able to solder then?

Advice on fitting T connector in tight space

I need to install a T connector off an existing 15mm mains water pipe, access space is severely limited as it is under the 1st floor floorboards and surrounded by a mass of other pipes for central heating etc. I presumed that I would need to use a compression T as there is likely to be water...

    Laminate worktops - jointing

Absolutely not, in fact the wall runs out by 30mm at one end! However because I am only installing an L shape and the one side is a peninsular I only have to scribe the one wall, which I will do myself and trim with a jigsaw.

Where can I get black conti-board iron on edge strips?

I am just fitting a new kitchen with gloss black doors. I need to trim down a few of the doors to fit certain items in, I wanted to use black conti-board iron on strips to finish the edges but can't find them in any local shops. Any suggestions?
