Broadband phone line filters are useless

Maybe I should have said "better quality".

Broadband phone line filters are useless

Anywhere I can buy "stronger" line filters for broadband. The phone line connection to my router seems to be interfering with the main phone line. I get static over the phone speaker, and the light on the phone turns on as if there is an incoming call. Then when I pick up the phone...

    K12 Micra: Avoid buying?

Thanks. I suppose a dodgy chain means it is noisy when started up? I guess it may not be a problem if the car has had regular oil changes. I never thought about the ex-driving school motors....

    K12 Micra: Avoid buying?

I was thinking of getting a K12 Micra (2003-on). Maybe an 04 or 05. Private seller. I have previously had 95 and 99 K11 Micras which were bullet proof. But browsing the web, there are quite a few reports of expensive stretched timing chain problems on the new shape Micras. Was this problem...

Rear window LED light keeps falling off

01 Micra The overhead LED brake light assembly on the rear window keeps falling off on one side. The LED bar is held into position by a brass plate which locates onto a rubber square fixed to the window glass. A series of dimples on the rubber plate lock into corresponding holes in the brass...

Updating a old mobile: keeping my number

According to the Tesco mobile web site, if I buy a new Tesco mobile phone they will activate my exisiting number within 24 hrs. How they do this, I'm not sure. Q: Will my old Nokia charger work with a newer Nokia phone?

Updating a old mobile: keeping my number

I have an ancient Nokia 3310 mobile phone. It is Pay as you Go on Tesco Mobile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_3310 (Don't laugh -- I only use it for emergencies) I'm thinking of updating to something like an Nokia Black 1616. Question: Can I use the SIM card out of the old...

    Under floor oven element: replacing

I've replaced grill elements in my oven before. But now the lower oven element, under the floor of the oven, has failed. I took the back off the oven and could see the connectors for the lower element. But it wasn't obvious how to get at the element. Is it possible to take the floor off...

    hard wired washing machine

If you're hard wiring, the connection is permanent. There is no plug and no socket. Maybe it's a safety feature, to avoid any water getting in the electrical socket?

    hard wired washing machine

I think "hard wiring" means wiring directly into a fused switch unit, rather than the conventional way of wiring to a plug and inserting the plug into a wall socket. But using a plug should be fine AFAIK.

Electric hobs: conventional vs. ceramic or induction

I'm moving from an electric oven + gas hob to electric oven + electric hob. There are 3 types of electric hobs: Conventional (sealed plate), ceramic, or induction. I quite fancy a ceramic hob. They look nice, but any gotchas to look out for? Stuff like: are they slower, or less reliable...

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

No water, or air exits. It's a screw-on plastic top. Like for a tooth paste tube, only smaller.

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

I unscrewed the plastic cap and dropped it. It rolled off into the darkness somewhere. So no cap on the air vent...I don't suppose this matters?

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

[/i] If the pump is EXTREMELY hot, I would suggest there is no water there, and you are in danger of ki;ling it. When you listen with a screwdriver, can you hear water movement. Are there any air release valves in the pipework above the pump. Is there water in the header tank? Did it all...

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

Turned pump up from 1 to 2. No joy. Listening to the pump via a screwdriver, the pump sounds to be turning. Must be an air block. No rads at all are working. So this can't be fixed by bleeding a rad, can it?

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

The refilling was done by a plumber. He's done jobs for me before and he is experienced. But there was some trapped air after he bled all radiators. The boiler was making a noise, so he banged on the air vent pipe in the loft or something. How can I release air from the air vent pipe? I guess...

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

Is the vent pipe blocked, maybe?

Grundfoss pump: Opening the bleed screw

It's about 2 inches wide! Yes, pipes on either side are very hot. In fact, all the pipes up around seem hot, including the vent pipe to the expansion tank and the main air vent pipe.
