Black bits in bath from hot water tap and shower

Hi, A few months ago we had a new Grant external oil boiler fitted as our Worcester went kaput. It's been fine however, as of late, I've noticed small black specks in the upstairs bath that smear when you try to get them off, and they are quite tough to remove requiring a fair bit of soap and...

Help with DC 3 gang rocker switch panel please.

Ah right, my initial interpretation was wrong, lol.

Help with DC 3 gang rocker switch panel please.

Thanks, so if the fuses are before the switches that must mean the fuse sits between each positive lead between them e.g. supply + ---> fuse ---> switch 1 + ---> fuse ---> switch 2 + ---> fuse ---> switch 3 + ---> lighter + ---> usb + ? Thanks Dan

Help with DC 3 gang rocker switch panel please.

Thank you all so much! That certainly explains it so a thicko like myself can follow. It wasn't an eco-worthy kit per se, I think this is an assembly of things to make a kit. Either way, the panel itself is non-branded and the ones I see on Amazon/Ebay, that sometimes show a wiring example...

Help with DC 3 gang rocker switch panel please.

Hi, I'm sure this should be simple but I cannot get my head around it and Googleing just compounds my confusion! My brother bought me a 'simple' solar kit for lighting my small shed but no instructions came with any of the parts. As pictured here there is a panel, an 'ecoworthy' solar charge...

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

Thanks, am doing. As they're WB allied I think that's all I'm being offered. I will try and get some brand agnostic installers in. Being a bit green with oil boilers, obviously mine is 'obsolete' however I do see non-current and much cheaper WB boilers available but am not being offered them...

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

It includes this: https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/worcester-greenstar-heatslave-ii-18-25-external-combination-boiler-oil-erp/ charged at 3.8k + VAT and then £1200 + VAT fitting. That might be 'normal' but 6k for 8 years guaranteed longevity seems pricey but I guess I don't have many...

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

OK, I've been quoted 6k for the latest external heatslave and install. That's more than I was expecting so am going to look at other options like the Grant in a hope that will be cheaper!

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

Seems a shame to ditch a boiler that's been trouble free till now. Seems like Worcester are getting worse....and why are oil boilers significantly more expensive than their gas counterparts? Seems mad to start saving £300 - £400 a year to save for a new boiler every 10 years...

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

Thanks, what is the typical cost to get either of those replaced/repaired?

Suggest a Heatslave 18/25 replacement as possibly not worth fixing?

Hi, its been a long time since posting but here I am again! We have an external Worcester Bosch 18/25 Heatslave oil boiler. It is now 13 years old but has been pretty reliable to be fair, with not too much spent on things going wrong other than the yearly servicing. Today it started losing...

Heatslave 18/25 central heating comes on independent of Honeywell programmer

Thanks, I have learnt a lot today! I'll check what I can and in all likelihood I figure I'll have to call the engineer out to properly sort it. At least I know what it probably is and what it definitely isn't!

Heatslave 18/25 central heating comes on independent of Honeywell programmer

Thanks, I'll check later. Yes, it is housed in one of those green cabinets outside of the kitchen. Out of interest, is my understanding correct between the rads/TRVs/Honeywell as above?

Heatslave 18/25 central heating comes on independent of Honeywell programmer

LOL, ok....how does one check for that and I'm guessing this is going to be on the boiler and not the Honeywell unit?

Heatslave 18/25 central heating comes on independent of Honeywell programmer

Thanks, I was thinking this but on what though (boiler or Honeywell setting) and enough to heat the whole house to 19 degrees or so? Even today, it has been coming on when the temp outside is well above frost and independent of the Honeywell controller which is set to 'off'. I have TRVs on all...

Heatslave 18/25 central heating comes on independent of Honeywell programmer

Hi, we have an external Heatslave 18/25 and our central heating has been happily controlled by a Honeywell programmer for the last 4 years. At the moment we have been using the Honeywell it on its 'manual' settings where we set a target temp and if the temperature is too low on the CM927 unit...

Strengthening 3 x 2 joists in loft in shorter lengths?

OK, I've seen loads of threads on this and have decided I would like to strengthen my loft 3 x 2 joists by screwing/gluing 4 x 2 on top. I want to do it to a) raise the floor level to accommodate another layer of insulation and b) strengthen the joists for "peace of mind" light storage. I am...

Is this screwfix composite doorset any good?

http://www.screwfix.com/p/portico-birkdale-composite-front-door-black-rh-880-x-2055mm/19952# £443.39 with what looks like everything needed. I need a door for my garage extension ( a small office/bedroom) and was settled on a cheap redwood FLB door which would cost about £70 for the door, the...

What exactly does "occasional use" mean?

LOL, I don't think I want to ask anymore questions about it as he's already let me fit a cheap framed, ledged and braced exterior wooden door after trying to persuade me to go plastic. I wanted a wooden door but the doors I looked at e.g. Jeld Wen are not very insulative and I said I didn't want...
