    Reposition RKP

What ho one and all, I want to reposition one of the two RKP on my Accenta G4 alarm. I know how to silence the alarm if I am replacing the back-up battery, but if I remove the RKP cover, the alarm will be activated and presumable, the keys will not work as they are in my hand. So what should...

    GU10 LED Downlights

Built in? Is it the tiny pin-head size chips or resistors or whatever?

    GU10 LED Downlights

Yes, although I believe it was 'cleared' away from the immediate vicinity of the lights. Nevertheless, the ceiling fittings are probably within an enclosed space. Although I am guilty of buying non-brand specific bulbs! Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. 500 lumen, 6w, COB

    GU10 LED Downlights

What ho all self isolators, Having some problems with my GU10 kitchen LED downlights. When originally fitted, they were 240v halogen and a few years ago, the GU10's replaced with LED bulbs. But to date, none fulfil the 30k hours specification. And of course, it is almost impossible to get a...

    Towel rail heating

Another great idea. When covid-19 has died down and I can get a bunch of bits and pieces from Screwfix or wherever, I will have a look. What does not work can then be returned. My only thought about the coupler, I assume that the element will fit though? Thanks

    Towel rail heating

You may be correct, but.... If you look a the photo of the existing rail, there is a short, screw-in tail coming out of the rail that fits the valve. Looking at the example image of the element. if the element is screwed directly into the bottom of the rail, I don't think the centre for the...

    Towel rail heating

Madrab, Thanks you; that looks a real possibility. Imagine I will have to reposition the towel rail slight higher up the wall, but that is the least of the issues. Just a bit of hole filing and redecorating.

    Towel rail heating

Thanks for your reply. Think I will have to give up on the idea. It is a stainless steel towel rail as it is plumbed into the UFH pipework so I didn't want any steel fittings. If I recall correctly, I bought the widest one at the time as I didn't want folded towels if possible. The 15mm T's...

    Towel rail heating

Thanks. Altering the pipework is easier said than done. The rail is on a wall next to the f/f UFH manifold, which is in a cupboard. I was having a look today and I think altering would be a major(ish) challenge.

    Towel rail heating

I don't mention drying towels (as in freshly washed and wet), only that they remain damp (ish) after use and not really dry the next time they are used. As sensible as your reply is, it does not answer my question whatsoever. Unlike many households, this is just to 'dry' damp (used) towels...

    Towel rail heating

What ho all happy self isolators!!! When I built the house, I installed a towel rail in the en-suite bathroom, heated by water via the UFH system. It works well in the winter months, but in summer, it is or course off, and the towels remain damp. The solution is to install an electric dual...

    Electric motor winding

What ho all you self isolators, I have a electric garden wood chipper that recently stopped working due to a blown capacitor. Replaced but the operation is somewhat flaky! The direction switch no longer reverses the motor; if I exchange the terminals on the motor, it then rotates in the...

    Wood chipper capacitor

Thanks for your reply. Are you implying that even a starter capacitor could be faulty? The replacement certainly came from eBay and it appears to be doing its job in as much as it starts the motor. The problem is that the motor will not run in both directions. Or more specifically, it runs...

    Wood chipper capacitor

Fitted and almost working as it should. The chipper has a two way switch with a safety restriction lever. It allows the motor to run in either direction to feed material in or extrude it. But with the switch in either direction, the motor is turning in the same direction each time. Feed in...

    Wood chipper capacitor

What ho one and all, I have an old electric wood chipper that mostly does not run but sometimes does. It is a Champion 2000W and has been challenging to dismantle. Having gotten it in bits, I see that it needs a new starting capacitor. I know nothing about caps but what is written on the...

    LCD display

Thanks for the reply. guess that is what I will try, however, there is always a but, and in this case, it is quite a big BUT..... The LCD module is mounted on a pressed metal support and has small folded lugs holding it all together. I ill investigate again, but my guess would be there is a...

    LCD display

What ho one and all, Having just revived a Sony CFS-B31 radio - cassette recorder with new drive belts, there is another minto but annoying problem. There is an LDC display on the front that shows the radio tuning. For a long time, it has been somewhat unreadable with just a few random lines...
