    flexis take up any vibration. you could pe prone to leaks if your plastic pipe flexes in it's seal.

    check the "nut" part- you should see it's tapered. the insert corresponds and as you tighten up it grips the pipe.

    don't bother with a check valve- although this would work. change the mixer and make sure it's suitable for gravity systems.

    looks like the loo has to come off. if it's ok to do so, try drain rods.possibly another pipe has been coupled to the stack and is protruding inside causing an obstruction.

    try toolstation, don't know why your builder suggested 1.8 bar-1.5 is enough. use twin impeller pump with cold coming from the hot water header tank. should give you plenty.

    if it doesn't screw off, push one of the buttons down. on the side of the other button you may find a "notch" to flick it out, then remove other button. should see a screw in the bottom.

    try getting one of the bath mixer showerhead attachments- looks like a big stethoscope- and attach it to both basin taps. tie off the shower head...last saw them in the cheapo shops. may give you the backflow you need.

    have you tried flushing the downstairs tap with the upstairs hot open as well? as kitchen is ok, may force it through enough to draw out the airlock.
