Need to fix kitchen wing with cables?

As Prenticeboy rightly said, yes my question is about the units being hardwired and with electrical equipment fixed to it. For instance if an owner later tries to move the kitchen units and pulling the cables. Of course the circuit has an isolator switch on the wall. I guess this could apply...

Need to fix kitchen wing with cables?

I am installing a kitchen with an L shape. The long part fo the L is aginst the wall and screwed to it. The short part of the L extends from the wall, away from adjacent walls, and is tied to the long part. It protrudes 1.2m from the long part. The cabinets are tied together and fixed to the...

How to prevent weeds from re-growing?

Thanks, I cannot wait a few months to re-apply the turf as I am going to sell the house and it needs to look good with a lawn. I guess I will follow r896neo's advice.

Hello, I really only want the lawn. Do I need to apply anything to the soil under the turf?

How to prevent weeds from re-growing?

I am working on a garden that was neglected fo years. It had weeds 1.5 metres high. I hope there were none of of Japanese things. My people removed all the overgrowth and old grass plus some of the soil. What do I need to do to the soil so that the weeds do not grow again? At this time...

    Worth trying to repair jigsaw?

Thanks all I was lucky on this occasion. One of the wires in the swtich had come off so I just replaced it. Come to think of it, it is not well designed as it should be better secured with the vibration it gets. I will offer Dewalt my design services. I have just saved £250 on a quality jigsaw...

    Worth trying to repair jigsaw?

Hello I have got an Dewalt jigsaw (about 7 years old). It has done a fair amount of work and it is good quality. it suddenly stopped working; the plug fuse is OK. Could this be burn-out? Is it worth trying to repair it or is it time to buy a new one? If it is worth trying to repair it, where...

Installing gutter on conservatory joint to wall

Hello, I have this problem with a DIY conservatory I installed. The conservatory company just gave me this aluminium channel to install against the wall on the house, under the roof tiles. The thing is they did not give me any real connection system to the rain down pipe. And still I have to...

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

This is not a question of how much you know about electricity. It is a question about knowing about the products they sell out there. If I have not used a 3A FCU before, how do I know it will not come with a warning saying "replacing the fuse with one of a lower rating will invalidate the...

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

The only thing is I have not been able to find an FCU that is less than 13A for the lights, do they make them?

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

Like I said, the CU has not been installed, so the sparky will recommend the MCB rating. I guess the socket could be regarded as an external socket, connected directly to the MCB (say 16 A) and then take the spur from the socket for the lights with the FCU in it. I just thought it would be...

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

I see what you mean but: There is only one double socket, as I said on the first message, so, for instance if I connect: socket 1- Lawnmower at 1300W 5.7A socket 2- Machine in garage 1300W 5.7A light: 100W 0.4A Total design current: 11.8 A I guess if I started adding plug adaptors...

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

I was thinking of taking the cable from the CU into the FCU first and then from there two branches: one for the socket amd one for the lights. Can I put the two cable sizes (1.5 and 2.5mm) together in the same FCU? Or why would it better to go to the socket first?

CU or Isolator switch in garage?

Anyway, thanks for the feed-back aside of your secondary discussion. I have decided to install an FCU only as the installation has got its own 'exclusive' MCB in the CU. I will let the sparky recommend the rating for the MCB
