    What wood stain for stairs?

What do you guys think of the 'Colron' range of dyes, they seem to have a nice range of colours.

    What wood stain for stairs?

I think it looks much better than staining the entire lot!

    What wood stain for stairs?

Hi guys, I'm starting work this weekend on painting/staining my newly fitted staircase. The look i've decided to go for is white spindles/stringer with a stained handrail and base rail. I'm not sure what wood stain I should be using for this particular application so was hoping for some...

    No primer or undercoat required?

Thanks guys, how many coats of primer do you suggest I apply? The Dulux Trade primer/undercoat says 2 coats. So, should I apply 2 coats of primer and 1 coat of satinwood or 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of satinwood? :? Cheers :)

    No primer or undercoat required?

I'm planning on painting my new skirting this weekend with Dulux Trade Satinwood (oil based) as i've read the water based/quick drying stuff is a nightmare to apply. I will also be painting my doorframes which were stripped down to bare wood a few weeks ago. So, after treating all knots...

    Coving problem - help!

This weekend I put up some plaster coving in my hall and landing, all went really smoothly until I came to the last wall. The problem is the wall is 'warped' so there is a gap under the coving - this gets progressively larger towards the centre of the coving strip (the max gap is about...

    Dulux trade vinyl matt dilution

Hello guys, I have mist coated my newly skimmed ceiling with Dulux trade vinyl matt, watered down by 20%. I have also used this as a base coat on the walls because stripping the wallpaper left very patchy walls. By this I mean there were many areas of bare plaster where the original paint...

    Dulux Diamond Satinwood

Hi, I've been offered a 2.5L tin of this at a very good price but I want to know if it's worth bothering with? Anyone have experience of using the 'Diamond' variant of this paint? Or should I just stick to the normal Satinwood? Thanks.

Dulux trade fast matt or trade vinyl matt?

I don't have artex ceilings anymore! As stated in my post, they have been flattened and skimmed over with plaster.

    Dulux Satinwood question

I have had new skirting boards fitted and a new landing balustrade. My doorframes have also been stripped down to bare wood. I would like to finish the spindles, skirting boards and door frames with Satinwood as i'm not a fan of the glossy look. I understand there are two variants of...

Dulux trade fast matt or trade vinyl matt?

Had all my artexed ceilings skimmed 3 weeks ago and not sure what paint to purchase.... I see these two paints mentioned on here quite often, I understand 'Fast Matt' is for use of freshly skimmed plaster (i.e. can be applied to plaster that is still drying) and is easier to apply than the...

Help fitting replacement CH room thermostat

Ah that might be a problem, if I leave it on constant (from the boiler) it turns the hot water on too. There is no option to just have CH on by itself.

For the timer there is just a manual dial on the boiler with 2 ON and 2 OFF sliders.

Help fitting replacement CH room thermostat

Many thanks for that, I only have one room thermostat and of course there is a thermostat on the boiler. N only has one cable. Why does 2 have 2 cables on it though? Are you saying move both of these to 'B' on the new stat?

Help fitting replacement CH room thermostat

Posted this in the plumbing/heating forum but realised it should be here... Can anyone give me some advise on changing my 20 year old Drayton thermostat to a new Honeywell CM907 digital programmable thermostat. The problem I have is none of the connections on the old thermostat correspond...
