I have a blank canvas! Recommended systems, thoughts please?

Thank you guys so much. I'm so sorry I didn't see these replies sooner - I did set up for email alerts but they must have gone to spam. We are definitely having a woodburner, and in the last couple of days two people have told me how that alone will really heat the house up, so now I feel more...

Morning all! Excuse the long post. I want to employ a good heating engineer, just wanted to research first.... Scenario- 1960s detached bungalow, I'm having a rear extension and at the same time replacing the entire roof incl large dormers. Will be approx 200sqm of floor space. Two shower...

Is this feasible - 2 combi's in one home.....

Appreciate the help people. Once the new roof is in place I will investigate if I can fit a coffin tank in the ridge - I've found one that is only 12" tall, maybe I can double these up with access hatches and keep a vented system and a cylinder in an airing cupboard. Next on the to do list is...

Is this feasible - 2 combi's in one home.....

Thanks very much Tony. Possible silly question time - what's the best way to determine the flow rate - is it something I can do myself? Appreciated.

Is this feasible - 2 combi's in one home.....

Thanks BS. It's oil fired, whether that makes a difference? The boiler will be at the back of the garage, and potentially I could put a cylinder above in the loft space (so long as planning approve me to replace the flat roof to pitched) Cheers

Is this feasible - 2 combi's in one home.....

Hi Daniel, Thanks for your reply. I'm told the mains pressure isn't great (will have to find out the incoming flow rate). I was thinking two combi's to remove the need to find a space for the cylinder, although I may have extra loft space (depending on planning permissions say so) Cheers!

Is this feasible - 2 combi's in one home.....

Afternoon people! Any advice much appreciated please, here's my dilemma- I'm renovating our new home, it's currently a 3 bed detached bungalow, with a room in roof. It's soon to be (subject to PP!) a 4/5 bed. The conversion will mean the removal of the current vented system, and an old old oil...

advice on existing extension foundations please...

Yes looks like a couple of pits to be dug. Unfortunately can't ask the chap that lived there, as he has passed away. Would you happen to know if single story foundations are sufficient to support the roof as well, again depending on foundation width and depth. Or is there a guideline / table...

    Foundations Help and Advice Needed

Noseall are you talking from experience? I like to over-engineer and my base was rock- solid. I'm not saying it's a better choice, but on my simple site, it provided a perfect base for full height panels. I didn't like the modular dwarf walls they do, so if you are referring to that, from afar...

    diy used ebay conservatory advice

I built my conservatory two summers ago and used a DURABASE steel frame. No need for trench foundations. Works well on simple sites and shapes. The base cost me approx £1300, and was ready for a three sided Full height conservatory. I ordered plastic panels for the sides rather than glazed (as...

advice on existing extension foundations please...

Hi guys, Been a very long time since I have been on here. Great to see its still a thriving community. I'm in the process of buying my next house - a detached bungalow with a room in the loft, that has undergone a single story flat-roofed extension. I wish to replace/add to the single story...

    Foundations Help and Advice Needed

Hi pal, Not a completely relevant answer, but I recently built a conservatory using a Durabase system, a steel frame that has legs that sit on top of 300mm^3 concrete pads, thus removing the need for trench foundations. I had a very simple area to work with so it was ideal. Worked out a little...

Plinth lights and under cabinet lights

It has a little transformer in the circuit anyway. I think I have a solution - spur a double socket, plug the plinth lights in (as this uses a transformer plug) on one side, and wire the downlights into a plug for the other side, but with no earth connection. Sounds like a plan - what you...
