    Aligning floor and wall tiles

Thanks Julio. What about the wall that is perpendicular to the wall I start on and base the floor laying on? As the tiles are rectangular, these tiles won't align with the floor tiles :( I think I should have bought square tiles

    Aligning floor and wall tiles

I am retiling the bathroom wall and floor with 330 x 450 ceramic tiles. Which is the best way to align the tile joins on the walls with those on the floor so that they look in-line? Obviously I can get them in-line off one wall, but the joints will be staggered against the adjoining wall :? Is...

12v or not 12v - that is the question!

:? :? Sorry poor subject line...... I am putting in a bathroom ventilation fan within the shower area of a shower bath (zone 1 i believe). Does the fan have to be a 12v connected through an FCU to a RCD socket ring or can a suitably designed wet area mains voltage fan be used? Most of the...

    New boiler and installation required....

Is there no-one in the south manchester area who would be interested in fitting a new boiler system? To whet your appetite further.... I am looking at replacing the current gravity fed system (vulcan continental boiler) with a standard boiler and unvented cylinder. :)

    vauxhall cavalier

I have recently traded in my Cav and was very sad to see it go, but had a long drawn out problem with the cooling fan. Firstly, Cav's generally seem to run fairly hot, of the 5 Cav's that various friends have had all soon got hot when stood in traffic etc and fans came on relatively quickly...

    Triton 'Jade' Electric Shower

I had a similar problem with a Triton shower (forget the make now as in a previous house). The problem lay with the temp sensor which was on the outlet (inside the box). I managed to pick one up from a domestic appliance shop for a fiver, changed it over and problem solved. For the model I had...

Can I have my gas and electric meters moved?

I had my electric meter moved 18 months ago from under the stairs to the porch as part of an overall project to re-wire the house as it the original 1930s wiring and fused isolator switches! As the supply cable was very old the elec board said they had to put in new cable and thus create a new...

    Order of work....

I am replacing the plasterboard ceiling in my bathroom (lowered false ceiling) and plan to replace the current single light with some spotlights. Should I drill the holes for the lights before the boarding is plastered or after? I was thinking of doing this before as then I can gain easier...

Keston Duet (Celsius25 + SPA 125L cylinder, opinions please

Hi, i am considering a similar set-up for replacing my current very old system, though I was thinking of a mega-flow unvented cyclinder. Is there any reason why you decided to go for a Keston rather that megaflow? Is your installation going to be as shown in your link picture or can they be...

Insurance - Compensation of car's true value

I have been in a similar position a couple of times and it is very hard to get the insurance company to pay up on the true value of the car. Try and get evidence from mags such as Autotrader on vehicles of the same make, model and year as your car in support of your claim. Even then I didn't...

    Not a good start....

......leaving for work this morning. I only went and scuffed one of the alloy wheels to my car on the curb outside the house :x Only minor damage on the very edge of the rim adjacent to the tyre wall, but more than light scratches. Can anybody give me any tips on how to get the scuff marks...

    Bathroom Vent Fan Position

Not sure if this is in the correct forum, but not getting any comments form the electric forum and it is kind of water related :? ..... I am installing a new bathroom suite in a pretty small room (1.5m x 2mish) which has a lowered false ceiling. I wish to install a ventilation fan to help...

    Low Voltage Kitchen Lighting

I have found the Which? book on electrics (exact detail not sure but has orange/brown cover) to be excellent and has provided me with surefooted guidance throughout the re-wire of my house.

    Ventilation Fan Position

Apologies if this touches on old ground but search of the topic didn't really answer my question...... I am installing a new bathroom suite in a pretty small room (1.5m x 2mish) which has a lowered false ceiling. I wish to install a ventilation fan to help clear the mist when showering but am...

    Immersion tripping rcd

Thanks Malc. With regards checking the immersion and leaving the wires dangling, I will be going to my aunts house tomorrow and will be on my own in the house (therefore no chance of anyone else touching what they shouldn't), at the risk of setting myself up for ridicule here, will the circuit...
