I am replacing the plasterboard ceiling in my bathroom (lowered false ceiling) and plan to replace the current single light with some spotlights. Should I drill the holes for the lights before the boarding is plastered or after? I was thinking of doing this before as then I can gain easier access to putting the new wiring in place whilst part of the ceiling is down.
Had planned to use nails to secure though some threads advocate the use of screws - will the screws provide a more long term secure fixing or does it not really matter?

Thoughts on this would be appreciated. :)

Suggest you sort wiring while ceiling is down. Lay cables to where lights wil be mounted, and leave enough slack so that you can fish these out later.
Then put up boards. Suggest 12.5 board and screws - more secure and easier to put in - have you tried nailing to a ceiling? - you need to be double jointed!!
Once boarded, skim - with no holes i boards, you'll probably finf it easier.
Onec dry, cut holes with hole saw and fish out lighting cable..
Bob's your uncle...
Hope that helps - done the same job myself.
