    realistic basement flat ceiling height?

Official line from local bld regs contact I can confirm that there is no minimum headroom within the flats, the only restrictions under the building regulations in relation to this topic are a minimum of 2.0m over stairs and landings. Obviously you don’t want to go too low as this will...

    realistic basement flat ceiling height?

Im in the process of creating a basement flat. At present I have 2.15m floor to ceiling joist. But I reckon after floor insulation, chipboard and two layers of plaster board im going to be left with something around 2.03m. I realise more height is preferable but in reality this is a basement...

Masthead amp rip off - anything i can do ?

About 6 years ago we had a new aerial fitted for freeview and a masthead amp as the signal is weak.....it worked fine for years. Over the past few months i've noticed we are seeing picture break-up and bad signal errors with HD channels hardly working. My presumption was it was failing so...

How would you tank this basement wall ?

Thanks guys - so a waterproof inner skin with a channel a pump system behind wouldn't do the job here ? My finger in the air cost is there's well over £1000 involved in getting water, gas & electricity entry points into the building relocated.

Filling gap around badly fitted window

Hi, I'm redoing the seals on a badly fitted bedroom window, I've done the sides with stixall sealant and plastered over. However on the top of the window the gap is quite deep going back about 1.5" and about .75" high. This will take an awful lot of stixal with a plaster finish over the top...

Can cracked pointing cause damp ?

Vokera compact combi boiler losing pressure

Sadly guys after doing all this work the boiler is still losing pressure, this only happens when it's not in use ie overnight. Any ideas what the problem could be - the EV is correctly pressured now so that doesn't seem to be the issue. tia, Mike.

Vokera compact pressure rising after filling expans. Vessel

Ive recently re-pressured my expansion vessel to stop the bolier losing pressure after some great advice on here to 17.5psi (1.2bar). The boiler is showing 1.5 on the front so all good. However when I turn the heating on the pressure quickly rises to 3bar and stays there until I switch off. I...

Finally located the bugger of an expansion valve - well hidden top back ! I pressed the valve and nothing no air whatsoever, i've tried adding some back in ( a job in itself !) and was wondering what sort of pressure i should inflate to, also will it stay at this pressure or will it need...
