    Singles in trunking

Thanks sparkwright, that was my feeling. Trunking does not have such nice smooth bends as conduit.

    Singles in trunking

I'm struggling to remember the regs. Is it permissible to run 6491X in trunking? I am wanting to alter some controls on a heating system in a large building and need one more core to do this. It would be easier, and cheaper to add a single 6491X cable, but I can’t decide if it is OK in trunking...

    Rainproof jacket

Thanks for all the replies. I now realise that I was looking for the impossible. I’ll have a look for something suitable. It was very cold and pouring with rain this morning, so I have the incentive to get a move on.

    Rainproof jacket

I want a decent, waterproof jacket that does not make me sweat so I think it needs to have breathable fabric. I’d prefer hi viz but am not too fussed about that. Can anyone recommend a jacket that will keep me warm and dry while working outside over the winter. I’d like something that does not...

Cheap consumer units, who uses them, are they permitted?

I looked and thought a link might be good. I am not commenting on how safe they are https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-sentry-8-module-6-way-populated-rcd-incomer-consumer-unit/303kp

He simply said that the excess gas pressure has damaged the burner.

    Excess gas pressure damaged boiler

This is not a DIY disaster, but it is a disaster and I have no idea where else to look for advice. I look after the building repairs on a church. Last week I got the annual gas safety check done and the gas safe engineer found the pressure was about twice what it should be. He disconnected the...

Mixed LV ans ELV is it safe?

Probably the simplest method for me is to remove the 230v stuff and just use 12v. It will work anywhere and if I am on a mains hook up the battery will be getting charged.

Mixed LV ans ELV is it safe?

I agree, I was more thinking of slight risk that the AC could possibly induce some current in the ELV DC cables

Mixed LV ans ELV is it safe?

I'd not thought about induced currents. I think I'll do a quick redesign asnd have two separate switches.

Mixed LV ans ELV is it safe?

I’m trying to work out why my proposed wiring is wrong. I’ve got a caravan and sometimes it is hooked up to a mains supply. When it is there is a RCCB on the supply and another in the caravan. I’ve fitted two twin sockets with USB charging ports and they are on a spur. I’ve fitted a 30A double...

Electrician. Chased Walls and Installed Sockets But Wires Are Not Capped. Is this Correct

Thanks JohnW2. I can learn even at my age. I was wrong with my idea and have learnt.

How can I double shoot this issue? 12v Water Tap..

That looks like the set up in a caravan. If it is make sure the pump is firmly plugged into the socket on the caravan and that the terminals are clean.

Electrician. Chased Walls and Installed Sockets But Wires Are Not Capped. Is this Correct

I think you could cut into the wall above the socket in photo two and fit a back box with a blank plate one it. That would be a visible sign that the cables are running at a different level. Not ideal but I think it would create a safe zone and you would not need to touch the cables. A better...

    Meter change and DNO fuse

I phoned my DNO and asked if someone would come to pull the main fuse so I could fit a new consumer unit. The lady on the phone asked if I was happy to pull it myself and I said I was. She then asked when I would do the work and said that one of their engineers would visit a day or so later...

    Solar hybrid advice

I agree that a forum on here for Solar Panels would be good. I've just had a quote for fitting them on my house and with the increasing costs I wonder if I should spend the money. I trust this forum to be honest and not controlled by one company.
