Worcester 28i Junior Combi - Hot Water fault

Hi Yes it has a crossflow heat exchanger, 4 pipes from it. Yes it is ok when heating is on but if not the hot water goes cold after a minute or so and then gets hot again after about 40 seconds or so and this repeats as a cylce. The flow switch if faulty would surely mean the hot water...

Worcester 28i Junior Combi - Hot Water fault

Hi Our boiler a 28i junior (Worcester) has a hot water problem. The water runs hot after a few seconds as normal and then all of a sudden, after approx. 40 seconds runs cold for about a minute approx. and then gets hot again. After serahcing the forum I believe it to be a heat excahnger...

Shower only cold now, could the pump be faulty?

Does it kick in when the hose is removed and the water goes into the bucket fine. If so maybe the shower faulty. Or the hose maybe from the pump to the mixer.

Programmer swap, wiring different, change backplate ?

I'm replacing my old programmer Gloworm with a new one (Drayton) and the wiring is to be different (different terminals used on the backplate). Is it possible to just re-arrange the wires for the new programmer on the backplate or will I need to unscrew the old backplate and fit the new one...

    Explosive Ignition

Thanks for your help, it was my boiler  I had my boiler fixed / checked by a gas engineer this morning, apparantly the pilot injector was partially blocked, dirty with lint or dust or something and the pilot light was too small and this was the cause of explosive ignition eveytime the...

    Explosive Ignition

I know its a gas related question, I was just wanting to know what caused it though. I know about burner pressure/gas rate checking/injectors etc I was just trying to understand why it could happen!!!

    Explosive Ignition

I get your drift, thanks for the picture. I was meaning on a less severe scale, ie in a domestic boiler. Just wondered what causes it and what the initial signs would be.

    Explosive Ignition

Can someone please explain exactly what causes Explosive Ignition, ie in a gas boiler, and what eactly it means? I am curious and am trying to find out (but searching the net or this site hasn't helped). I am guessing it is when a burner fires up loudly, due to possibly too high gas pressure...

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

thanks for helping the 2 port has 2 wires missing from the 5: the brown and the orange! there is no cylinder stat no room stat either just the programmer, the boiler, pump and 1 x 2 port mv! i believe, (am sure) the 2 port is on the htg circuit, as the h/w feed is tee'd off just...

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

so from hw on at the programmer the boiler LIVE feed and cyl stat COOMON (LIVE) terminals are taken. what about the 2 port?? Sorry..... didn't follow... thanks for explaining, much greatful. btw from the 2 port (sorry i got it wrong) the BROWN and ORANGE have bee cut, not the grey!

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

i have a mechanical type programmer (danfoss) and it has hw and htg and hw. one 2 port, with the h/w flow teed off just before the 2 port. sorry original post was a query i had and i was trying to understand my MV and MV's in general! Sorry for confusing you! :)

Boiler noisy and radiators not as hot. sludge or limescale?

limescale will only build up if fresh water is added and often, as the wate gives off its scale, when heated over about 65 degrees in hard water areas. your problem is due to sludge most probs, and as suggested use X800 (will probs be wa better and quicker than X400) I will use this...

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

yeah it does - just wondered how though as i thought to start pump/boiler, the GREY wire had to be live (perm live) to provide power to orange wire (to pump and boiler live feed) when micro/auxiliary switch in actuator was closed (by the motor when moved fully across)..

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

Thank you for helping me. In my flat the system has a pump though - and the 2 port is just after the tee to the h/w circuit (h/w is in 15mm - think it is an old type conversion kit inserted in the immersion heater boss). Just wondered why the MV has wires cut and how it worked with no perm...

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

thanks for replying and info. in my flat i have a normal 2 port (honeywell, 22mm) and the grey wire is cut (only has 3 wires). The h/w runs whenever htg is on!! How does the MV work if the grey is cut, as I thought this was a perm live to provide power to the orange when the auxiliary...

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

Why does a 28mm 2 port zone valve (for gravity h/w) require 6 wires (an extra wire-the WHITE WIRE). What purpose does it serve.... anyone know?..

    noisy boiler

good point but wouldn't the noises be all the time if the pump was to blame, and not just for the initial 10mins?
