Supply Issues and Shortages In The Construction Industry

thanks for replies. it seems as europe is starting to lock down again, it can only get worse for certain products. i will see what is difficult to get and maybe order that first, allowing a long delay.

Supply Issues and Shortages In The Construction Industry

Will be starting rear extension around March next year. Anyone who deals with builders merchants on a near daily basis, or who knows the supplying companies stock levels, care to give me an idea of whether to start ordering stuff now, or into the new year. I appreciate its maybe only your gut...

    best shower position

Will be starting rear extension (Bathroom) to replace same, in March. Will be having extraction as per regs, but not sure which position is best for shower, and extractor fan. Low end of pitched roof, or other end. i assume fan would be at highest point regardless, or are you supposed to get...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303874203347?hash=item46c0505ed3:g:Tf0AAOSwwkhgHXNZ This is only one i could find. Its a WTP1 from British Gas. There is another thread on here somewhere about it.

A progstat for a simple bloke?

i have a hive one from British Gas, but not one you can control from a phone, ( as most of the time i dont even know what room my phone is in, and can go days without needing it). You press it once and it shows the temp, if you think its a bit chilly, press another button for 1 hour of heat. It...

    Adding a door

https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/downstairs-toilet-room-size.580187/ This may help. And if you fancy putting it somewhere else like the understairs cupboard, it may fit.

    Best method/pipework

Thanks Swwils and CBW. I have done soldered and compression before, but didnt know if times have changed peoples opinions a little. Beam and block floor and stud walls that i can access from outside for sink, shower and toilet. Materials cost would be a factor, example, one may have more...

    Best method/pipework

Sorry if asked before, i tried the search and didnt find the answer. I will be doing a bathroom extension next year. Demolishing old bathroom extension and starting again. All previous pipework will be capped off at junction of existing house until i build the new one. In most peoples opinion...

    order of works problem

thanks for all the replies. Ive took bits from all of you. I cant even get into back garden until old extension is removed, and on my own demolishing, getting rid, digging footings and drains, and laying drains, will take at least 2-3 weeks as i work full time. I think i can use a shed i was...

    order of works problem

might be an idea, old salt. where do i empty it, there are places on camp sites, but neighbours might see me putting it down the grid.

    order of works problem

Beam and block at different heights

Hi All. BCO made his initial visit yesterday for my rear extension. We just went over what i could and couldnt do, and a few things about how he wanted things done. I will be going with block and beam and it will be two rooms. I want one room to be a stepdown into it. I will put my stud wall at...

    Block and beam

Probably because the weight of all those blocks, cement, plasterboard, anything fixed to wall, and a bloody heavy roof, which all the forces are transmitted down the outer walls, will be pressing on partially unsupported areas. I will be doing this same job in the spring. It would never occur to...

    Angela rayner…

haha. socialist bends words, to make any written or spoken, fit his/her warped political agenda. Your inept leaders, and utterly clueless cult worshippers, lie and manipulate to gain votes. This would enable them to have a longer career that is financially rewarding, whilst doing nothing except...

    Angela rayner…

It's all the loony left have got in their arsenal. Name calling, and responding to everything that the Government do, with "we would have done it differently". Unelectable rabble with no plan.

    Extension Cost

Sure i read somewhere on here about £1500 per m2 is middle of the road, so around £40'000. Especially with the increases in materials, some materials, ie timber, cement, bricks, tiles are at least 50% more now, if you can even get hold of them.

    Extension roof opinion

@cdbe. I know what you mean, it was my first plan. As im doing it myself, whilst full time at work, and limited budget though, its difficult. The wife has also said, that with no bathroom for what will probably be about 9 months, there's no way that she's having no kitchen as well. That middle...
