best cordless driver for £100 or so?

I bought a pair of Ryobi (drill /driver and hammer drill) when they were on offer for £50 at B&Q a short while ago. Other than the battery charger which was a wall wart type I cant fault them. I replaced the battery charger with an automatic one from ebay and that is much more convenient.

MULTI METERS and using them !

Hi You may find this useful: http://www.airborn.com.au/circuits/meter.html If you Google for "using a multimeter" you will find a few similar sites but a quick look suggests this is not a bad one for starters. Although it relates to a particular make of multimeter the instructions apply to...

    Fuse Discrimination

But the FCU may have a 13A fuse and the ones plugged into the fused spur sockets may have 3A fuses and in that case there is not a diversity issue.

    Fuse Discrimination

There have been some recent posts about connection to washing machines etc. In one post it was suggested that a switched FCU was fitted above the worktop feeding a 13A socket below. An option suggested that a flex connection unit be used instead of the 13A socket and that this would avoid fuse...

How do you repair and fill shrinkage gaps in tongue and groo

Too late for you but it is a good idea to give just the tongue and groove a coat of paint before putting it up.

    painting embossed wallpaper

Depends on the wallpaper. Some embossed paper is made to be painted, others have a coating and do not take paint. I would go for the former and then paint with mat - this will help to cover the imperfections and if you want to change the colour or freshen it up later you do not have to re...

    Which Digital Multimeter

From an electronics engineers point of view - Fluke every time. (but I still get the old AVO8 analog out for some jobs). Sometimes ex MOD rugadised Flukes (model 25) come up for sale and these are a good buy.

    Best type of TRV

All my rads except the bathroom have TRVs and I have no room stat. There is no problem with the combi boiler heating but there is a bit of a mixture of makes and type of TRV as valves and or rads have been changed over the years and some of them are looking a bit care worn. I am looking to...

    rusty hand tools

http://www.instructables.com/id/Electrolytic-Rust-Removal-aka-Magic/ The above link gives more detail of the electrolysis solution. It probably takes longer to read about it than to set up and it does work. The only critical thing is to connect the supply the right way round!

jigsaw blades , whats all that about then?

I was once given a good bit of advice about jig saws - Always take the blade out when you put it away. When you use it next time there is a chance you will select the right blade for the job in hand.

    Ryobi sale at B&Q

Bought a set today and well pleased as I like Ryobi anyway. Notice that both the drills and batteries are marked with "imported for B&Q" Not sure of the significance as the drills and model numbers appear the same as full price offerings although the batteries are 1.5 Ah rather than 1.7 Ah...

Vaillant VCW GB 240EW DHW expansion vessel

I have just got a new water section valve (part number 011292) which I am assured is the replacement one for my boiler. The new one is similar to the original and will fit but there is no connection on the top half for the DHW expansion vessel. Unfortunately it is not just a case of swapping...
