Advice on staircase prep and DIY painting pls

Thanks for your advice. I’m actually not very sure how the they were treated but it does have the gloss and feels silky smooth. I’ve done repainting the door and certainly can image the pain going through the staircase, that’s why I told the better half to get down to the paint and pick it...

built-in oven sit on wood frame?

Just measured the space under the hob, don't know why but after installation of the hobs the remaining height is 1cm short for the required height of built-in oven. If I remove the bottom shelving board from the kitchen cabinet, and build a wood frame/shelf on the floor supporting the oven...

Driveway gate automation - safety mandatory?

Yes, disabling the safety device was to find which component in the system was faulty. Since I found out it was due to the dead batteries I replaced with new batteries and connected all back as they were and tested they are working as supposed to. Thanks for reminding me!

can I add pump at water main entry point if my central heating is still gravity feed?

I bought the house with gravity system for both hot water and central heating (two water tanks in loft). I then have am unvented cylinder installed in the hope of better pressure. It was unfortunately marginally better so I' m thinking of adding a Grundfos scala 2 pump at the water main entry...

Driveway gate automation - safety mandatory?

I actually got the gate working again as the quote I received was too much I decided to open up the control board enclosure and downloaded the manual for the CB. Did some reading and thought the swing arms must be fine as the chance of them failing at the time is low. So I looked at the safety...

Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood Paint very sticky and easily peel off

    Non-reflective/light absorption paint for ceiling?

I did more readings and I think you are right, but I can't paint the ceiling dark as the ceiling is low already and wife will not approve... I'm considering black velvet curtains for sides and maybe the ceiling if I can come up with ideas of quick operation time but still looks good for living room.

    Non-reflective/light absorption paint for ceiling?

I'm looking to maximum the black level/contrast for using the projector in living room without sacrifice the overall look (can't do all black). So just wondering if there's a tried and proved non-reflective/ light absorption white paint that I can use for ceiling to reduce the light reflection?

Did you paint on existing paints or prepared the surface? Could you share your the preparations you've done? And when totally dry, do you find dusts/micro fibres sticking to it or easily wipe off? Thanks

Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood Paint very sticky and easily peel off

For the doors I think that's mostly true. But for the MDF skirting boards, it's primed, I sanded them before painting but still the same - for example, my speaker cable was against the skirting board and took off some paint when I moved it.

Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood Paint very sticky and easily peel off

I used Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood Paint to refresh the internal doors and on some new skirting boards. Skirting boards were lightly sanded but doors were only cleaned by wet clothes. It's been 2-3 months and I found the paint to be sticky when touching ( totally dried at this stage) so easily...

Best seal for wet room wall and floor?

Hi sorry I didn't make it clear, I think my builder did tank it - I saw him painted the shower area with black materials and he said that was for waterproofing. Then the tiling. Now the crack is the grout between the wall and floor, about 2mm gap I guess. I 'm not sure the cause of it but didn't...

Best seal for wet room wall and floor?

Had our master room en-suit done as wet room, but found the joint of shower area wall and floor cracked, I think it's bad preparation so the floor moved/ sagged so the grout cracked? Anyway I used some bathroom sealant from BQ but got black moulds in 3 months time. I'm going to remove the seal...
