    Plywood on kitchen walls

Here’s some photos, seems to be going well so far but stop me if I’m heading for disaster.

    Plywood on kitchen walls

I had already battened the wall and was deciding between plywood and cement board before I posted this. It’s a relatively small kitchen area so 11-12 boards will do it at a cost of £110-£120. It’s only the back brick wall and a bit of the side wall which will be boarded. The rest of the room is...

    Plywood on kitchen walls

Is plastering for DIYer simple? I battened the brick wall and will use hardiebacker as it feels simplest for me.

    Plywood on kitchen walls

Thanks, I’ve decided to go with cement board instead

    Plywood on kitchen walls

Can you use 12-18mm WBP Plywood instead of plasterboard/cement board on kitchen walls? Will the humidity warp the wood or is WBP Plywood designed to resist this?

Is this the one to use? http://m.builderdepot.co.uk/5-5mm-x-1220mm-x-2440mm-wbp-bb-cc-external-plywood.html

    Boarding over plank subfloor

Thanks mate. If that’s the case I would probably prefer to use the 6mm so that the final floor will be flush with the carpet in the rest of the room.

    Boarding over plank subfloor

I would like to board over a kitchen plank subfloor (after having removed the thin chipboard) and then install floating luxury vinly tiles over it. Which type of boards would you use? Plywood or cement board? Would 12mm thickness be okay?

    Is this wall load-bearing?

Just removed the plaster from this wall in a 3rd floor flat in a Victorian house with a loft room above. The joist above appears to be parallel to the top joist and the bottom (joist?) appears to be sitting on the floor boards with nothing below. Could this wall be load-bearing?

    Plaster skim easily peeling off

I am taking off all the plaster on the vertical wall. The metal mesh/lath just falls off with the plaster. Not sure how the window is installed but hope this photo helps.

    Plaster skim easily peeling off

Thanks, I decided to go for option 1 as the plaster was clearly blown. The plaster under the window has metal mesh. Is there any chance the plaster could have structural properties or is it safe to remove it from around the window and roof panel?

    Plaster skim easily peeling off

So I'll need to do exactly what I did below when I removed the tiles?

    Plaster skim easily peeling off

I would like to paint it white. It is a roof flat, but that wall is a wall between two flats in a terrace. With regards to the second option, is there no option to skim again after removing the skim? Or do anything that doesn't involve hacking much just so that I can paint on top of it.

    Plaster skim easily peeling off

I recently purchased an old flat and removed the old kitchen splashback tiles. Then above it the plaster skim layer (I believe) simply peels off and leaves a very thin layer of something behind (PVA maybe) and then the old plaster which seems in good condition. What are my options for redoing...
