I'm about to start fitting my new kitchen and am planning on venting the extractor outside. Problem is the house is bulletproof ! It's a 1950's semi built from 'Newport Star' Engineering bricks. The electrician did offer to core a hole to fit the vent but now knowing the difficulties of...

    Waterfall Worktop

Hi all, Looking for advice for a waterfall worktop - where the worktop continues down to the floor. Planning on having Oak on the kitchen island and on one end having it 'waterfall' down to the floor. There will be no other support on this end apart from the vertical worktop as it's a sort of...

    Gas Hob FSD's

As a landlord when replacing a Gas Hob does it need to have FSD's? The property is just a standard dwelling and NOT a HMO or flat. All the info I can find suggests it's only a requirement on HMO's & flats although I just called the HSE gas safety line and was told that all new/replacement hob...

    Accessing Flush & Fill valves?

Don't think I'm that lucky mate... The cistern is definitely not screwed to the wall so I'm guessing it must bolt to the pan with fasteners from the inside of the cistern. I'm hoping there's a flexible hole from the underside of the cistern to the water inlet but looking at this photo I took it...

Covering pipes in wall advice please.

Thanks both - I ended up doing it on Saturday. I went with wrapping the pipes in duct tape prior to cementing them in. The wall is dot & dab but after cutting the channel out it was quite poorly supported so cementing them in had added a bit of rigidity.
