    Is my Kitchen work notifiable?

Hi all, I'm not going to pretend to know much about electrics which is why I have a local electrician in tomorrow to do some work ready for my new kitchen. So please go easy if I'm talking rubbish. Starting with the cooker I already ran a 6mm T&E from the existing switch location to near...

I have a new cooker hood but I think the installation manual is written in jibberish.... Here's an excert - "The cooker hoods power cable must be fitted upstream from the electrical connection using an omni-polar swith with a contact disance of 3m" Should that be 3mm?? Is omni-polar the...

    British Gas Combi Quote !!

My current Worcster combi is over 10 years old so I'm looking for a replacement. Seeing as British Gas were offering £400 discount I thought I would have them in for a quote. Basically to replace my existing with a Worcester Bosch 32kw combi (which apparently is a 30kw boiler modified for BG...

    Range Cooker Installation

I'm going to be installing a range cooker in a chimney breast and was wondering how much space there should be between the cooker and the walls of the chimney breast. I'm planning on rendering or tiling the inner walls of the chimney breast so they'll be non-combustible. I've tried getting some...

    Mitre Saw for coving??

I'm about to fit some coving and am thinking of using my mitre saw to cut the angles. Am I right in thinking that if I lay the coving face down and use a compound angle I could get it to work?? Because the coving is quite large I cannot stand it up in the saw like normal as it taller than the...

    Bending Chrome Pipe ??

Hi, I'm in the process of replacing the 15mm chrome piping for our existing thermostatic shower (due to it being too low for our new taps!!). Anyway made the first one no probs (90deg bend + a 30deg jog bend), but for some reason every time I try to bend the 2nd tube at 90deg it kinks ...

How do I mount 2 screws EXACTLY level?

Wow, plenty of ideas there then? Many Thanks..... The keyhole plates are actually screwed to the back side of the mirror's wooden frame with blind clearance slots (for the screw heads) machined in the frame. I ended up drilling a hole in each of the keyhole plate just above the actual...

How do I mount 2 screws EXACTLY level?

I've just bought a LARGE wood framed mirror that I want to mount horizontally. It already has keyhole type slots in the back of the mirror about 5 feet apart. Problem is because the wall I am mounting it on is solid stone (behind the plaster), when I drill a hole it wanders a bit resulting in...

    Intermittent Hot Water...Help!

I've been having some intermittent hot water problems recently with my Worcester 280 combi. More often than not the water runs hot in a few mins, but occasionally it can take 5 - 10 mins. Turning the tap on and off 'seems' to help but it still takes a while. Can anyone shed any light on this...
