    Pre-fab garage roof

I can't believe that over 4 years has passed since my original post! and the garage is still not sorted as Dad hasnt emptied it! I didnt realise that Compton had since closed down. (They were very good at getting back to me) I may be looking for some panels "soon"

    Adapting metalwork on wall light

Thanks both- I did consider the hacksaw, but knowing my luck, I'd end up with a right mess! EightyTwo - saw the endon one previously, but didn't like the petal glass- HOWEVER, it inspired me to look at the Endon webpage and I THINK (subject to Mrs' approval) that I've found "the one" a near...

    Adapting metalwork on wall light

We are struggling to find wall lights which we like, which closely match our light fitting bought from JL 9 years ago. We have found these but we don't like the fancy metal pieces on top. Anyone know how we might go about removing them? EDIT: Not sure why the image link isn't working.

    Shower enclosure recess

Ok, trawled the web for far too long on this. Basically, looking for a bi-fold shower enclosure, where the side panel is only 300mm. (It is to go 3/4 way into a recess - can provide pics but hopefully youy'll know what I mean) Spoken to 3 companies who were very unhelpful "if its not on the...

    Worktop Butt Joint

Thanks Roger - thought you'd got me a winner there! Got a quote back yesterday and unfortunately cost is prohibitive- it was £200 alone for the shipping over from Germany) Quality looks good though in theory. Not sure we can justify quadruple the cost to lose a join - oh well!

    Worktop Butt Joint

I am about to buy laminate worktops for my L shaped kitchen. There will need to be a butt joint in the corner. One wall is 4.69m long, - the relevance of this is that the LONGEST laminate top I can buy is 4.1m. I was thinking that with the additional 600mm width of the worktop along the...

    Lighting Advice

Not really a technical query- so not sure if this is best here or in the projects section. About to specify lighting for our renovation works which are going on. Electrician I believe is coming in next week (builder's subby) so need to make a few decisions. Outdoor Lighting - we want this...

    Texecom Veritas R8 Sensor Problems

Panel is 2006 and has plenty of fuses. Just removed the fuse and set the internal sounder off! Strangely, I get 0V across the aux fuse terminals with the aux wires disconnected. However, as initially stated, I get 10V across fuse terminals with the aux wiring connected. Voltage at Aux...

    Texecom Veritas R8 Sensor Problems

Builder asked me to remove a PIR yesterday so he could do some bonding. Stupidly I unscrewed it and left it hanging there. When I went to set the alarm later, I noticed that zone was lit up on the keypad as being "open". Decided that perhaps plaster had got in the circuit, so I took it...

    Retro-glazing internal doors

Thanks. Doors I am looking at are Solid Core. I am fed up with our moulded egg shell doors. Looking forward to the feeling of something a bit more substantial!

    Retro-glazing internal doors

Apologies, within the link I posted above, they sell SOLID CORE or 3 different versions of Fire Doors. So, I am talking about adapting a SOLID CORE one 35mm thick rather than a Fire Door. (What can I use other than standard that means not a fire door!?)

    Retro-glazing internal doors

I am looking for a specific look of internal door for my refurbishment project and can't find what I am looking for, so looking into feasibility of adapting something else! Basically, I want this: link in the standard 35mm thickness, but part glazed like the 8G fire door option below...

Fan "tripping" breaker, but switch not flicking

Thanks. Will get fan sorted at the same time, not sure why that should have gone wrong.

Fan "tripping" breaker, but switch not flicking

It didn't look very mid positioned. I had to rely on the labels to work out which breaker to use. Incidentally, the installation was put into this house about 10 years ago and house has hardly been lived in. The CU is in the cellar.

Fan "tripping" breaker, but switch not flicking

Every few minutes, the downstairs lights were going out. Went to the CU and all breakers appeared to be in the "ON" position. However, turning the lighting breaker off, then back on again seemed to reset everything. The MCD is a SquareD brand? Eventually found that turning the isolator off...

"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

Thanks. So I could move it (the amplifier) to the other side of the loft (5m away) where the aerial comes in, but it would mean that some of my existing downleads would have to be joined and extended, so there is a trade off - which scenario is going to make it most reliable? (some of the...

"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

Sorry- read masthead and moved on down!

"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

Rgarding the link posted - I presume you are referring to this PSU? C46367 PSU Will this be compatible with the amplifier I already have, or will I need to replace that too?

"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

Thanks guys for your help. I didn't actually mean that I connected the aerial to the PSU - I had the aerial into the amp and the downlead from the amp to the PSU connected and nothing else- hoping the buzzing would stop! Wishful thinking. It does go quietly occasionally. Just a quick...
