Just tried doing the same: Against Magnolia Wall, looks pretty white. These two against a newly painted white wall- not quite so white![/img]

    Veritas R8 Plus Can I...?

Have a Veritas R8 installed at our property. We have recently erected a shed to the side which is used infrequently. If I add wiring and a sensor and make it a new zone, can I configure it so that it is alarmed all the time unless I unset it? I am guessing I could make it a "part set"...

    Supplier for Lots of Sockets

You are right - I have recently fitted them against a white wall and they def. look off white. Didn't notice against the other neutrally coloured walls though.

    Supplier for Lots of Sockets

If you want good quality white, I would use MK Logic Plus. I have always used TLC to buy my wiring accessories, but found toolstation slightly cheaper for my CU.

    Definition of a "Qualified Electrician"

About to purchase a Nuaire Drimaster Heat to help out in a house that suffers from condensation. The instructions say that to maintain the warranty, it needs to be installed strictly in line with the instructions. The instructions state that it must be installed by a "qualified electrician"...

    Moving Staircase

Thanks Freddy, I found a linked topic here: http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=204259 Which sounds quite a similar situation. So, it sounds this would be acceptable IF there is an escape route from every first floor room? Is that right? So, in those instances, as long as...

    Moving Staircase

Thanks, Here are some very rough mods to our last plans which show current and proposed. Couldn't draw the stairs on very well but have indicated with an arrow. Sounds however that this would mean passing through a room at grd floor level which is not allowed. How would a door at the...

    Moving Staircase

Our current stairs in our c1990 build house is in the normal position of being just inside the front door. There is a door to the left to a single room and a door to the right which takes you through a through lounge into the kitchen, conservatory, cloakroom etc. We will soon be extending on...

    Veritas R8 - adding a PIR

Thanks It's a "Electronics Line EDUS004MER0A Wired Mercury EL-100" PIR. Will double check the polarity later. Is there a test I can do with the multimeter from the panel end of the wire, to check the relay wires are connected properly?

    Veritas R8 - adding a PIR

I am trying to add an additional PIR to my system to cover a new room in my extension. I have wired from PIR location back to control panel. This will go as Z6 on my system. I have removed the loop jumper from Z6 and used white/red in here and also in the Relay / NC ports on the PIR end...

    Router

Thanks again. Regarding the alternatives- I have already tried solution 1 - the door is hanging there right now on a Wickes liner, but I'm unhappy with the look of it. I have used some plasterboard (temporarily to stop draughts in the cavity) in the reveals and it looks pretty bad as the lip...

    Router

Thanks for all the responses guys. I won't try and multiquote but a few points... - Yes the "depth" I guess is 300mm (318 to be precise) I phoned around several timber yards for softwood, all told me it would cost me an arm and a leg as it is non-standard. It's only a cut through a cavity...

    Router

Have never used one of these before but a need has arisen and trying to decide whether to hire one, or buy a cheap one.. (about the same price, but would the cheap one be up to the job!?) What I need to do is cut a couple of rebates out of a sheet of 25mm MDF (probably about 10mm deep)- it is...

    Sliding door overlap

I've gone for 2 x 610. Found I can get a solid and a mirror from Wickes at this width. B&Q only did the mirror at 610, but not the solid. Thanks

    Sliding door overlap

I have built the shell of a large wardrobe in one of our new rooms. The opening at the front is 226cm (h) x 118cm (w) Thinking of fitting sliding doors in there. Was a little unsure of sizing though. 762 seems to be a standard width, but this would leave an overlap of 34cm. Would this look...

    Multiple extraction fans

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've been looking at lofty type things also for another property I have which has a condensation problem. Seem to have good reviews and good comments in the building section of this forum. I might go for a multi-room system. Not top job on the list right...

    Multiple extraction fans

We live in a modern(ish) 3 bed house. We have an en-suite which has an extraction fan for the shower. This is in the loft and the ducting goes out to a vent fitted in the eaves. In our family bathroom, there is no ventilation at all. Now that we have a baby, we are using the room more and...

    Landscaping and Laurel Hedge

We will shortly be getting a mini digger in to remove 260mm depth of soil from our front garden. Majority of the area will have 150mm of type 1 down and a drive laid on top, but we will be putting a border around the edge (about 500 wide) for a Laurel hedge. I should add that we have ver...
