well then you could just use another DP switch to provide that facility. Although i think you might be right about the confusing ideas. I'll shut up now....
there are several 20amp switches onthe ring main that controll sigle sockets below the worktop. None of them run via an FCU!
There is also a double socket that is spurred.
Can anyone quote me the reg baning more spurs than sockets?
in my new house we happen to have more spurs than sockets on the kitchen ring main. Is this breach of regulations?
Should we have been given any documentation with the house? as we havn't recieved any!
We are using 16mm for a few reasons
1. We had some lying around
2. The hot tub is 20a
3. I thought i should put in the biggest supply possible, avoiding digging up the patio in a few months time.
4. It might be used to supply some power to a shed or garage at a later date so i was trying...
I am about to install a hot tub and other electrical items in my garden, so i will have a CU out in the garden fed by 16mm SWA. I am putting the CU in a large grey IP56 box. The lenght of te SWA to the CU is about 15m. I have it fed by a 50amp breaker in the CU.
My question is if i have a RCD...
ok, i am infact buying a hottub from the same company. So i guess the MK masterseal FCU I have is gonna be no good for this?
Shurely an IP56 MK masterseal FCU would be better than an IP44 MK commando socket?
sorry no one likes you..........(joking)
I'm about to install a hot tub soon and was considering mounting an IP56 boox inside the hottub controls and filling it with electricians putty to be extra safe. then I'd take some SY multiflex to an IP56 FCU on the otherside of the patio.
it always pays to lay the largest cable you can afford, and can install. 2.5mm might be big enough for now, but what about the future?
I'm in a similar position and am laying 16mm cable, although that is a bit extreme, and i got the cable for free.
can i change the RCD in my split load board to 100ma and just have 30ma RCD MK masterseal outdoor sockets around the outside of the house for outdoor equipment? (house is fed by a PME connection)
The idea is to stop all 5 ringmains going if someone cuts the floodlight cable outside.
thanx
