    Painting external rendering ?

Thanks dmp, I do see your point about painting. I might get a quote and see what it would cost. OR, would a DIY job be out of the question do you think ?

    Painting external rendering ?

Hi and thanks, a re-render job is not financially viable at the moment. So I thought there might be a paint method I could use for now. Paint from BBQ is easy enough but wouldn't it have to be sprayed on as a brush would dislodge stones as you painted ?

Replacing window glass in wooden frames ?

Hi and thanks. So the problem could be the panes are absorbing moisture through the bottom because of a lack of spacers ? The reference to the wooden frames, are you implying that because they are wooden frames that they wouldn't have spacers ?

No under roof tile felting ?

Hi all, our 1953 bungalow has no felting under the slate roofing tiles, instead it has been cemented/plastered in between the rafters. Over the years this stuff has fallen off and the roof is now quite drafty in places ! Is there any material suited for putting into place in between the...

    Painting external rendering ?

Hi all, our bungalow has an external rendering of render a pebble dash. (I hope 'pebble dash' makes sense ? stone chippings ?) Although the condition is passable at the moment, the front of the bungalow faces out west (Wales) in an elevated position and I don't think it has too many years left...

Replacing window glass in wooden frames ?

Hi all, I know zilch about windows and window frames so maybe you can help me out ? We moved into our bungalow last year and took the house 'as seen' with obvious jobs needed doing. One job was doing something about the windows. Basically they are wooden framed, the frames are in not too bad...

    WALLPAPERING ON PLASTERBOARD

Hi guys, I've just recently boarded (dot and dab) my living room basically to straighten out the walls. As my plastering skills are limited I was wondering if it was possible to wallpaper straight onto the boards if they were sealed and backing paper was then pasted on ? BARCUD

THE DREADED COOKER HOOD QUESTION, AGAIN !?

[I still say dig some tiles out and do it properly.. ] Okay ColJack, I'm not gonna ask you for good advise and then ignore it ! I know sometimes it seems as if I do ignore it but that's usually when I don't understand it ! Taken tiles off, routed some 2.5, connected fused spur for the...

THE DREADED COOKER HOOD QUESTION, AGAIN !?

Hi ColJack, thanks for taking the time to advice. NOW :? maybe I'm not using the right technical terms but here's what I'm trying to say. You can connect a socket to another socket to another socket ? yes ? isn't that how sockets are connected around the house ? What I am proposing...

THE DREADED COOKER HOOD QUESTION, AGAIN !?

Hi ColJack, [provided that you can get at it, you could put a JB into the ring and take a spur from that to the cooker hood..] Could I then put a JB before the cooker switch ? The JB can be placed in an upstairs cuboard. [otherwise you could take a 2.5 cable from the cooker switch feed...

THE DREADED COOKER HOOD QUESTION, AGAIN !?

Hi guys, this was suggested in a previous post about wiring for a cooker hood. Take a 1.5mm or 2.5mm from a socket or the cooker circuit and fuse f/outlet at 3A or 5A depending on extractor load. I have a recommended 3amp fused spar unit for the hood but all the socket feeds are well and...

SO FAR SO GOOD WITH COOKER ELECTRICS

Oh oh, my mistake ! the switch is fused with a 13amp !? The boiler was put in the bathroom by a gas boiler fitter as it was too close to the cooker in the kitchen and space there is limited. The outlet must have been put there by the builder who built the extention, both nothing to do with...

SO FAR SO GOOD WITH COOKER ELECTRICS

Hi and thanks for the help so far with wiring in my cooker. The cooker has been successfully wired in and works perfectly. Now I have the hood to consider. I have a 45amp fused switch for the hood and now have to find where to feed it from. The picture shows a possibility. This is in my...

    COOKER ELECTRICS

Cheers, I went to plumbing , had a 'search', and it seems okay to remove and replace the cooker myself with the bayonet type fitting as it is self sealing. Hey ho, cooker out, wall channelling done, fix backing boxes and reroute wiring this afternoon. as ever, thanks, BARCUD
