Here's one for you all! Trying to replace ballvalve in cold water tank in loft - no service valve fitted, stopcock doesn't work, stopciock in street also not working. Apart from having to call water board to replace external stopcock, is pipe freezing before the ballvalve the only other way...

Hi all I'm having trouble getting my motor back in the machine with the belt on - the belt doesn't stretch far enough to fit on the motor pulley - there are 2 nuts for the motor, both fixed, no leeway in either and 1 fixing spigot which goes into a lug - any help please would be great !!

Does anyone know the make and model of the combi that had a pin on the diverter valve that came out and activated ignition on central heating demand as well as hot water demand?! .....

good point :) If I don't do one I look at meter/gas pipework though to check all is ok etc :D

ah well too be fair on the gas safety form it has tick boxes such as ecv accessible, bonding at meter, tightness test pass etc - i always check these anyway. i know the flue/ventilation/ operating pressure/gas rate / safety devices ie fsd working satisfactory and appliance safe to use :) i...

i went on a Vaillant training course in Burnham a few months ago - they was very useful. Do you have a disc with all manuals of all boilers on? I have some but am thinking of getting one with every manual possible on! If possible? :wink:

do you find fault finding/replacing parts on the older style boilers, or the newer type (premix burner/zpg type) easier?

giot it - no problem seen in the manual where to test for to check the transformer is ok and it is :) peoblem in end was no voltage going to fan - tested using multimeter across terminals at fan

what SHOULD a gas safety check (CP12 etc) consist of (as a minimum, say for eg a r/s boiler: tightness test of installation (let-by test before of ecv) inspection of gas pipework ecv accessible/satisfactory equi bonding check visual check on flue - route/termination etc (ventilation if...

some firms don't consider a gas safety and a service too be much different - ie they don't go into the combustion chamber on a service or don't strip/clean parts

so it's hard to test? ie no power going to APS it could be pcb OR transformer (is used) ... ? i'm trying to get the manual !! :)
