    Insulation again...

Hello, I'm currently building an extension and loft conversion. The loft will form "part" of a bedroom, and i'm keen to make it as efficient as can be. I deliberately used 7 inch rafters on the new part of the vaulted ceiling, in order to use 4" of PIR and a suitable air gap. However...

My DIY house refurb. Half complete,

Still doesn't work, not sure what I'm doing wrong? I did report to a mod, that's why I've not added to it yet.

My DIY house refurb. Half complete,

Hello, I'm copying this from my thread on another forum, so updates will appear quicker than they actually are. In 2012 we decided to have an extension on the house. This has now turned into 3 extensions! We lived in the house throughout, and other than brickwork I did everything (with...

Can you fit a bifold door into an opening that is not level?

Hello, So does it go from 2400 to 2340? Or is it perfect rectangular opening, on a slant?

    Hardwood decking, which screws/hidden fixings.

I did some experimenting and you are correct. Face fix is the only way. I've read a few reviews on clips and cannot see anything that looks suitable. There are a few boards that aren't straight so I'd have no chance with most clips. Good point on the spacing. I'll let you know how I go on...

    Hardwood decking, which screws/hidden fixings.

[/url] I went and picked up one box from screwfix this afternoon. I'm not sure if to try and hide them at 45 degrees through the side or just screw 2 per plank on the top. Then I have to think about a gap. Do I use one, the timber has been "laying" for around a month. Will it still have...

    Hardwood decking, which screws/hidden fixings.

Hello, Today I've tried to lay some hardwood decking (in between the rain). It is Red Balau hardwood. I purchased some "clips" which go into the side of the decking and are concealed. However, they are very flimsy, and more or less impossible to hammer into the side of the boards without...

    Hardwood decking

Do you think if I got untreated Larch then stained and varnished it, it'd stay a brown color?

    Hardwood decking

No I hadn't, but it looks like a great compromise. Thanks. :D

    Hardwood decking

Hello, I'm looking to build a decking area approx 30m^2. I really like the look of hardwood decking. But I'm not sure which is best to go for, or what the best place to buy it is. Prices seem to be about £80 per sq meter at best, (just for the planks) Its a lot to spend, but it should last...

    Plumbed into mains Coffee machine.

I've just contacted CDA and the one they did is discontinued now.

    Plumbed into mains Coffee machine.

Many thanks, the CDA looks ok and is £2500 cheaper! But isn't fully automatic. I'll look through the rest of the range though as its most likely they will do a better version that can be plumbed in.

    Plumbed into mains Coffee machine.

Haha, I was thinking more along the lines of a sleek built in machine. Maybe I should have been a little more specific.

    Plumbed into mains Coffee machine.

Hello, Bit of a long shot, does anybody know of any other than the Meile? I can't find any, the Miele is top money and doesn't really "match" my kitchen, wondered if I had any other choices before spending over £2k for my morning coffee.

Unvented cylinder in cellar pressure release valve advise

Hello, Thanks for the help, that rules the easiest method out then. Are you saying Method of one of the plumbers to vent inside the cellar area could be ok? I'll give them a call for some pricing. It looks a little "home made". Something we could knock up at work in notime, but I don't...

Unvented cylinder in cellar pressure release valve advise

Do you have a link to the pump? I've seen a few mentioned on the internet but all seem to be in error or misunderstood. I'm talking about before the Tundish, nothing mentions it, i've seen many of the discharge from the inlet group running up hill. Including manufacturers. I'm guessing its...

Unvented cylinder in cellar pressure release valve advise

I have just been thinking. Can the Discharge from the cylinder rise before it goes into the Tundish? If you buy a preplumbed cylinder they just use 1 Tundish for D1 and D2. One of which goes up before it comes down. If we could go up say 200mm from the discharges, this would allow the...

Unvented cylinder in cellar pressure release valve advise

I thought the general consensus was no pumps can handle the heat, unless £1000+, do you have a link to any? Neither plumbers knew of a pump suitable. I called the manufacturer personally before the plumbers came out to get a better idea and they more or less quoted from the instal...

Unvented cylinder in cellar pressure release valve advise

Hello, I have a 400l unvented cylinder to go in my cellar. But there seems to be conflict between plumbers/advise. I have had 2 quotes to fit, and decided to position the cylinder myself. Both agreed this would be best as its a real headache. However. Plumber A said. The discharge...
