    Adjusting upvc door

Yes - they seem to be screwed into the edge of the door itself. There is a cap on the top of the hinge which when removed, seems to show something to adjust with an allen key.

    Adjusting upvc door

Thanks for this, I have looked at the videos, but I was rather hoping it could be adjusted by the hinges adjustments with an allen key, as seen mentioned elsewhere. I am just unsure how to access the hinges and which ones to adjust etc. Any thoughts? Thanks again

    Adjusting upvc door

Hi, I have a door that sticks at the bottom, handle side and does not fully shut against the seal at the base, letting rain in. The hinges are as attached pix, but I am unsure how to access them to adjust, let alone make the adjustments. Would be greatful if anyone can advise how to do this...

    Bath Mixer Tap Problem

Hi, I have a recently installed (3 years ago approx.) bath mixer tap (B&Q Treviso suite) that seems to have problems with flow rates. When turning the handles the flow sometimes doesn't change and a few twists back and forth are required to change the flow. This happens on hot and cold. Also...

    'Frost' inside integrated CANDY fridge

Hi, I have 'frost' building up on the inside rear wall (white plastic) of the fridge at the upper levels only. The compressor seems to be running all the time and the temperature at the rear of the fridge about 1.4 degrees. This is with the Thermostat on a low setting of about 1. When changing...

    Electrical Condition Inspection Report

Looks like I have started an interesting technical discussion here! For further information, the earth spike is under the kitchen floor (accessed via small hatch in floorboards). The spike is closer to the incoming water (in bathroom at rear of kitchen) than it is to the CU or Gas Meter. The...

    Electrical Condition Inspection Report

Thanks - really helpful. In terms of the gas bonding, the green/yellow cable goes from the CU CPC busbar direct to the Gas meter (adjacent pipework). The same busbar that has all the CPC and the green/yellow cable to the main earth stake and then onto the bathroom incoming water supply.

    Electrical Condition Inspection Report

Thanks for all the responses. I have obviously used the incorrect terminology and the odd typo!. CUT should be CU and yes its main bonding and not earthling. The bonding is to the CPC busbar in the CU (where all the other CPC's connect) and there does not appear to be a MET. The main RCD for...

    Electrical Condition Inspection Report

Hi, Just wondering what code the following would give on an ECIR and if there is any 'real' concern in terms of electrical safety? 1) CU is 4 way and all circuits (lighting, sockets, shower and cooker) are covered by RCD on the main insolation switch. I gather this is because it is a TT...

    Electric Cooker Radial MCB Size

Thanks - So is 40A on the cooker ok, i.e. still safe if a 32A would do? The shower has approx 1m of cable buried in the plaster behind plastic cladding, so maybe thats why they changed to 32A. Did get a certificate after all. Cooker is an existing installation.

    Electric Cooker Radial MCB Size

Hi, Could someone advise if the MCB is the correct size for the installation below. - Cooker radial circuit on 6mm T&E cable direct from the CU with a B40 MCB and RCD on circuit. Cable is under floorboards, loose and less than 15m in length. Cable feeds a CCU with socket and then a cooker...

Wall Plugs for Kitchen Wall Units (plasterboard / block)

After marking out locations and drilling some pilot holes, I have 29mm from front face of plasterboard through void before hitting brick. Based on previous responses this appears to be dot and dab. Wall units are as below The screws provided with the fittings are 60mm long, so this...

Wall Plugs for Kitchen Wall Units (plasterboard / block)

thanks for responses to date!, I will check the wall in due course. The panel is to butt up against another and the fixings seem to be standard ones which can be adjusted two ways from inside the cupboard. I have also found DryLine Pro www.drylinepro.com which may do the trick but somewhat...

Wall Plugs for Kitchen Wall Units (plasterboard / block)

Hi, I am looking to install a MAGNET kitchen wall unit. The wall is plasterboard with a gap behind and then breeze block. I would be grateful if someone could advise on the appropriate fixings?. The units come with long thick screws but the majority of plugs I have seen appear to fix to...

    Replacement Shower

Hi, I have had a new shower installed in a flat I rent out. The replacement was organised by the letting agent with a NICEIC electrician. As i understand it the shower was replaced only and the existing cable (6mm2) used. I have been struggling to get a minor works test certificate for...

Fitting a Sylvania LS200 cabinet light

Hi, I have bought an under cabinet light from ToolStation and wanted to install it under the kitchen cupboard, but rather than wire into the mains, I just wanted to add a pug on the end and plug into a socket. However, the instructions indicated that "if removing a continental 2 pin plug...

Bathroom Earth Bonding on Towel Radiator

Thanks for the clarification. The radiator pipes will need bonding then as lights not protected by RCD. So any thoughts on a clamp to connect the earth to the 10mm copper pipes? Thanks
