    More damp problems!

Yes unfortunately the window is flush with the outside wall! I didn't know about those regs nor did my father. He just did the typical thing he does and get the cheapest "builder" in who simply fitted a new window and plastered inside to make good. In that respect should a rain guard be...

    Damp help please?

Can anyone tell me (just by looking at these pictures) if I have a damp problem from outside or inside the house? This paint started bubbling up and blistering in May and we haven't found the cause yet. The wall is an external breeze block in the kitchen below which there is a kettle used to...

Any kitchen fitters on here? Problem with corner cabinet

Hi I've had this problem before which was solved but it has returned and cannot be fixed now. Basically I have a corner unit with a pull out door which pulls out 2 sets of metal shelves. Once the door is pushed back in its supposed to stay in place but it now rolls forward so we've having to...

    More damp problems!

I won't be able to take photo's of the roof until I am next at my parent's place and I live over 2 hours away so will update when I can. The window was the first thing I questioned when I saw this water damage but I was assured the guy who fitted it took his time. Obviously somewhere along the...

    More damp problems!

There is no soffit as such as it's a flat roof. The wall above the window does up a coupe of feet and topped with brickwork. The roof section is then below that on a lower level. I can't remember if there is a drain pipe running down one side of the roof or not.

    More damp problems!

Right, I have a problem that I wanted to ask about here because my parents (elderly) have forked out a lot money getting this room repaired only for the problems shown in the images below to return only 5 months afterwards! The room in question is am upstairs flat roof extension to the house...

    TV bracket on plasterboard possible?

Thanks guys, some really interesting points made here. My gut instint also tells me not to mount direct to the plasterboard and isn't something I would do in my own house. I've always put up TV brackets using 6-8 large 10mm rawlplugs and bolts directly into brick or breeze block. I need to think...

    TV bracket on plasterboard possible?

Just a thought but my sister is having front room soundproofed so vertical battens then foam insulation in between followed by plasterboard on top then skimmed. I've seen some special plasterboard fixings called Molly plugs which are metal plugs that expand outwards with a special tool. If I...

    Security Light started to trip

Of course I will. Just to annoy rude people like yourself. It's a public forum to help others of less knowledge and share experience, not make well educated people out to be completely stupid which you have done with your comments. I put my hand up and admitted I made a mistake but did I have a...

    Security Light started to trip

Made the suggested changes and it's all working like a charm. I think I simply got the connections out of synch when I switch the terminal block around to help with the wiring access when I moved the light unit over on the wall. Thanks again to all who helped. :)

    Moving a wired sensor?

Thanks. My alarm fitter said I simply need to enter my code into the alarm panel then press program. I can then move the sensor providing I do not short out any wires. Then press reset. Does that sound about right?

    Moving a wired sensor?

I am fitting some made to measure sliding door wardrobes so the room PIR sensor for my wired alarm needs to be relocated. Can I just disconnect it, extend the wiring and re-connect or is there more to it than that? The alarm keypad is a Veritas Excel.

    Security Light started to trip

    Security Light started to trip

I think I may have caused confusion here due to rotating the terminal block after re-fitting the light in the new location. Basically I have not removed any wires to the lamp, which go into the yellow sleeving. I only disconnected the supply cable so it's probably there I mixed something up...

    Security Light started to trip

Hi I'm hoping this will be a quick fix but here goes. I have a front security light (along with 3 others) adjacent to the front door. I was having some new guttering installed and needed to move the light over about 2 inches, which I did. All connections were re-made like for like and there was...

    Best wall insulation?

Thanks for the reply can I simply fit celotex/kingspan insulation between the battons and screw on ply sheets on top as the garage doors will hide it? This then leaves a 30cm gap between the ply and steel garage door. The interior room has windows and a patio door.

    Best wall insulation?

Right I've just cut off an old canopy garage door to fit a new side hinged version to allow access to the wall the previous owners fitted from the inside when converting the garage into a room. They fitted a timber frame with battens and attached plasterboard to the interior side. There was...
