    Renovating a staircase

I will try to get up a pic or two, but not sure it will show the effect. This stuff has been put on just about every piece of wood in the house, not a problem in most cases as Im replacing it all, staircase is a different matter, just too expensive to have one custom made. Thanks for...

Security: Should I ditch Norton for Virgin Media

SuperAntiSpyware seems to be the most pro-active I have found so far in stopping malicious items, but again, its not guaranteed. Again, all software must be kept up to date.

    Renovating a staircase

Hi, The problem is that this stuff has been on there for years and years, Im talking 45+ years. Its really in deep and has stained the wood, no amount of sanding, stripping or anything can get this back to match the rest of the new woodwork, hence my ideas... I know it was a bit of a long...

Security: Should I ditch Norton for Virgin Media

I know exactly what you meant, problem is most wont. People think that just doing a sys restore sorts everything out.......wrong. Best thing to do is not get the crap on your pc in the first place.

Security: Should I ditch Norton for Virgin Media

I agree, Its still up to the user to have a reasonable amount of common sense, ie. not opening any attachments they dont know the source of, clicking banners on websites and so on.... God knows how many pc's Ive sorted for people who just click on everything and open whatever... Also, you...

    Renovating a staircase

Hi all, Basically, i've been doing a total overhaul on my house, the majority of the woodwork is being replaced. Problem is the staircase... All the woodwork, ie. door frames, banisters, doors etc etc have been covered in this horrible black stuff, bit like a tar based product, many many...

Security: Should I ditch Norton for Virgin Media

NOD32 AV is for me, not free, but the best I have found. Along with SuperAntiSpyware. Windows firewall is good enough, no need for additional firewalls. Norton along with McAffee should be avoided at all costs.

    scrap copper and brass

I have a bunch of scrap copper from installing a new boiler and reworking some pipework, going to take it to the scrappy soon, with the old water tank, do I need to strip off the foam cladding or do they take it as is? Dave.

    Cistern Flushing problems

Sorry for the delay in replying.... Well, took off the cable 2-3 times, tried to see what might be causing the problem. Jiggled things a bit, flushed a few times with the lid off, all working fine, lid back on, tried again and now working...pfft!!! Well, fingers crossed it stays working...

    Cistern Flushing problems

Sorry, its a push button. It works fine with the lid off, but when the lids on it happens. Obviously, cant see what catching when its on. Cant see anything blindly obvious wrong with the cable or how its routed. The trouble shooting paperwork might as well be written in chinese for all the...

    Cistern Flushing problems

Ok, Just installed a new downstairs toilet. First time, everything worked fine. Had to disconnect the toilet to access some pipework on another job so when I re-instated the pane and cistern a problem has developed. When flushed, the toilet continues to flush (not at full rate, but more than...

joining 2 types of 32mm pipe

Got it off Ebay ages ago, got some left over from a PC modding project. I think B&Q do it as well.

joining 2 types of 32mm pipe

Well, Thanks to everyone who replied with the ideas. To keep things nice n simple I plumped for the easy option... Just used the regularar 32mm pvc pipe, one length from trap to elbow outside the wall. Once all was connected ant the collar fixed, I got some chrome self adhesive vinyl...

joining 2 types of 32mm pipe

Hi, I did see that on another thread, the person also had the same problem as me though. The chrome pipe has a nice collar which fits to the wall to make a nice neat looking seal. With a joiner like that it sort of defeats the object of having the nice looking trap and pipe...mmmm. Maybe the...
