Light scratches and scuffs on new plaster

Will give them a call and see what they say. Yeah there is a fan in the room, though I think the humidy problem (once room is in use) is probably down to no real air flow into the room so the extraction is suffering. With the door closed there is probably not enough air coming into the...

Light scratches and scuffs on new plaster

I wouldn't say there are loads, but there are a fair number, i.e. for long scratches probably at least 10 or more on a wall slightly larger than an 8x4 sheet. And thats the same on say each of the walls and ceiling. And about 30% or more of the lenght of the corners are not smooth. Ceiling...

Light scratches and scuffs on new plaster

I just had my ensuite plastered but now that its dried out, I notice that there are a fair number of light scratches in places and the odd scuff mark mainly in the edges. I am guessing that once I seal it I will see even more. So, am I well within my rights to ask them to come back, and if...

Fixing a Stone Resin Tray to Plywood

Keriquick says its flexible (S1 I think?) according to the Mapei site. Also says that can add Latex Plus to make it S2 flexible - whatever that means?

Fixing a Stone Resin Tray to Plywood

Would Mapei Keraquick or Keraflex be ok then? I am not sure Keraflex will be able to do the thickness required (instructions say 5mm min). I presume it would be better to use flexible rather than non flex adhesive?

Fixing a Stone Resin Tray to Plywood

Hi All, Whats the best way to fix a stone resin tray to ply? I have a Kudos 760 sq shower tray to be fixed onto ply. Instructions say silicon, mortar mix or tile adhesive. I have searched and it seems there is a mix of advise so wondered if anyone had any comments? Can understand...

Using BAL WP1 tanking on Moisture resistant plasterboard

he he. Yeah plasterboard, not aquapanel. Finally actually started to put bits back into ensuite, rather than taking them out!! Lots of pipe work to move before boarding though, and Travis Perkins just tried to dleiver standard board instead of MR!!! It IS green man, not grey!!

Using BAL WP1 tanking on Moisture resistant plasterboard

Just wanted to double check - is it ok to use the BAL WP1 kit directly onto MR plasterboard? I know its fine for normal board but the instructions don't mention MR board so wanted to double check. Ta

    Moisture resistant Plasterboard - plastering

Cool, cheers all for all your help. I fully understand that MR board is NOT water resistant or proof in any way. Its more of a belt and braces do it properly approach - as I have the choice now before starting and its not much extra. I only really thought about it cos the room can get...

    Moisture resistant Plasterboard - plastering

By dry out - do you mean existing wall if damp or dry out after bonding before skimming? I shall ask plasterer I speak to about using Thistle Bond it - thats also what Gyproc say. Don't suppose there are any decent (be honest  ) plasterers on here near Basingstoke?

    Moisture resistant Plasterboard - plastering

I think I might know the answer to this - if its the same as gets said in the tiling forums, but could you remind me why you can't PVA onto bare boards? When the plasterers did my kitchen, thats exactly what they did - watered down PVA!

    Normal or Moisture resistant plasterboard?

Am happy to use MR plasterboard all round - not that much more. Just so undecided about what to do in shower area. Either PB and tank (tanking stuff not cheap) or Aquapanel - but then slightly more money, and then have to join boards, and its heavier so not so sure about walls!! Grrrr -...

    Normal or Moisture resistant plasterboard?

I see your point. I can get MR board for around 1.10 more than normal so just thought not much extra. I undecided if should board and tank shower area or use aquapanel?

    Normal or Moisture resistant plasterboard?

I don't think he used flexible adhesive which could have been his main issue. This caused the grout to crack and therefore led to leaks!!

    Normal or Moisture resistant plasterboard?

ummm, I had a friend who used plywood and he had no end of problems with leaks as it expands and contracts. Marshman - you say you wouldn't, is that due to plastering or just that its not worth paying the extra money for it (as shower area tanked and rest should be OK)? I was thinking...

    Normal or Moisture resistant plasterboard?

I am in the proecss of gearing up to refit my ensuite and have taken down the existing boarding. Should I use moisture resistant plasterboard or just teh normal stuff when refitting? I am tanking the shower area which will be tiled but the rest of the room will be skimmed and painted. I...

    Moisture resistant Plasterboard - plastering

I am thinking of using moisture resistant plasterboarding to board our my ensuite - as its a fairly humid area. The shower area will be tanked and then tiled, but for the rest I was going to have it plastered and then paint it. However, reading the details on the Gyproc site regarding the...

Sealing edge between plasterboard and shower tray

Another quick question - I will be happy when I have actually finished this ruddy ensuite!! :D Whats the best way to seal between the plasterboard bottom (if boarding down to just above tray) or between plasterboard and tray (if boarding down to floor and butting tray up)? Obvisouly...

    Joining Aquapanel

As some of you may know, I am doing my ensuite. I was thinking of using plasterboard in the shower area and then tanking it with BAL WP1, but I am not wondering if it will be easier, or maybe cheaper, to use Aquapanel on these 3 bits of wall. Anyone got any ideas or comments on this...
