    Solid wood or Engineer

Hello, I want to put oak flooring in my dining area and run it straight into the kitchen as we are having one large room built. I am wondering if we could use solid oak as the Engineered floor does not seem to look as good. If we wipe any spills up straight away, what's the difference in having...

    Filling window gap.

Thanks for the reply Tony, Expanding foam inside the joint and mortar finish or just use the foam so it sits just below the surface? Think the mortar will come loose again overtime.

Hi, I'm looking to fill a gap between a wooden sash window and the wall. Should I just use mortar or is there something easier to put in which will stay in. The biggest gap is 20mm. Thanks Craig.

    Air vent

Hello, I'm thinking of blocking an air vent up which is in our dining room located inside a cupboard next to the chimney breast. The house is 1900's and there is an open fire in this room which is only used a few times a year at most. Can't see what good the vent is doing for the room?

    Rad valves leaking

Hello, I've had palermo valves fitted on all my radiators. I bought these from screwfix. One has already been replaced and another has a slight leak coming from the top of the cross head. When I replace this one would it make any difference by fitting Wickes valves instead? The wickes...

    RCBO Tripping

Hello, Recently changed a 6A mcb to a RCBO on the upstairs lighting circuit. Having done this the upstairs landing light (two way) now trips the RCBO. I changed the mcb when creating an upstairs bathroom. As I used mostly plastic pipe for the plumbing I understand Bonding isn't required anyway...

Hi, my pug 307 hdi (110) will not start. As I pulled off the engine seemed to stall and just cut out. The rac came out and after testing around the fuel filter he thought it must be the high pressure diesel pump. The mechanic who services the car has had the pump reconditioned. Although the...

Hello, my pug 307(110bhp) has an intermitent starting fault. Usually first start in the morning and then after being at work for the day. Inbetween this it starts straight away every time. Hello, Have had new rads fitted for a few months. Earlier today the hallway radiator valve started leaking from the body of the valve. The valves are palermo from screwfix. There must be a seal at the body joint. Can the valve body be tightened up or is it a faulty valve? Also if I turn...

    door threshold

Not when it rains as its covered by a porch. But water gets in and wets the doormat when the door is cleaned. The doormat is fitted into the floor level. I could do with a threshold only as wide as the door 30mm.
