    Tell me about fire doors

Woody I agree, maybe it’s just my particular BCO. But i feel that telling me to ‘add fire doors’ isn’t enough. BC should be advsing people to add alarms, sprinklers & doors. Or at least explaining the options rather than just the FD30 requirement cited on the plans

    Tell me about fire doors

Well I’m going to keep the existing frames, hang fire doors with both intumescent strips and smoke seals. And FR hinges. And of course keep the mains linked detectors on landing hall & kitchen. I hope that will be enough to satisfy BC. I’m not going to change the frames to 25mm stops.

    Tell me about fire doors

I know the answer. What I’m saying is not everyone closes every door every night & every time they go out. Especially kids/teenagers. I wouldn’t close my bedroom door because I wouldn’t hear the baby cry. Plus it gets so hot. My opinion is there should be additional smoke alarms. The...

    Tell me about fire doors

Yeah right. You’ve clearly never lived in a house with kids who are up and down all night. Smoke alarms in every room should be mandatory IMO.

    Tell me about fire doors

Well another day and still no response from BCO. I see Woody. So it’s actually down to the individual BCO whether he thinks it meet the regulations? So what are the actual regulations? Like I say, I have mains interlinked smoke alarms on the landing, hall & kitchen (plus heat detector). I...

    Tell me about fire doors

Tony, I hear what you’re saying about the smoke not setting the alarm off. But isn’t that the whole idea, that the fire and smoke is contained within the room as long as possible, so that occupants can escape? If the landing is full of smoke from a burning bedroom for example, that could make...

    Tell me about fire doors

Why is there no definitive guidance? For something that is so common & also could be life saving? Why can’t it just be detailed properly in a document B. It goes into enough detail on everything else. It takes days, sometimes a week to get a response from a BCO. Fair enough, they’re busy & im...
