Artificial turf for person with mobility issues

Hmmm.....didn't actually think of using the existing patio as a base for the new decking as was going to take the whole lot up and put a framework in place supported by posts bedded in concrete. That indeed would save a lot of time :)

Shower cycling between hot and cold

Combi Boiler: Worcester Junior 24i When taking a shower after a minute or two the water cycles between hot and cold every several seconds and then after a minute or so it settles down and I get a steady flow of hot water again (only happens when using the shower). Having read some of the threads...

Artificial turf for person with mobility issues

I'm looking at either decking or artificial turf for an existing ageing patio. If I chose decking it means lifting the patio but if I chose artificial turf I plan on leaving the existing patio and following the well documented steps on laying artificial turf. Note the existing patio is a couple...

Security feature for a small top window ajar.

Good suggestion and hadn't thought of that. I would use it as a last resort but ideally looking for something more secure as a small bolt croppers would make short work of that. But it is certainly better than nothing.

Security feature for a small top window ajar.

We've got a small top window which we'd like to keep open at night a couple of inches. Can anyone suggest a security feature which would secure the window from being opened more than it is in the picture. But also have the option to disengage this security feature so it can be fully opened and...

    Drilling 16mm hole into redbrick

I need to drill a 16mm hole in brickwork. Now today I was drilling 8mm holes in the very same brickwork using my corded 400W Bosch hammer drill and made little or no impact so ended up having to drill into the mortar instead to attach a bracket. My next little job involves having to drilling...

Waterfall Basin Mixer Tap, any good?

Okay maybe not utter rubbish but doesn't look like it's got many friends!!

Waterfall Basin Mixer Tap, any good?

I suspected as much, looked too good to be true I guess that's why most people don't fit them because they are utter rubbish. Form over function along with economy of scale over durability is the bane of modern life simply contributing to landfill. Really annoys me :(

Waterfall Basin Mixer Tap, any good?

Was in the process of replacing a bottle trap & waste for a bathroom basin. The original trap had been on there for donkeys years and had a ton of plumbers mate pasted on as well as having been painted over. Couldn't get the locknut for the waste loosened thanks to the goon who had clogged up...

Changing the euro cylinder lock on uPVC double door

Oh that's a good idea, if it will work. Hope to get around to do this in the next week or two as I've had another little Diy disaster occur :( But will let you know how I get on.

Changing the euro cylinder lock on uPVC double door

Please take a look at the attached images. I can get to the cylinder screw and push out the cylinder on the left hand side of the double door but on the side that provides the jam to the other door (not sure what you call it) I can't see the multipoint mechanism or plate as it's buried beneath...

Basin bottle trap 32mm or 40mm?

I'm replacing a basin sink trap & waste (see pic) and the local DIY store sells traps in two sizes. Now before I go and buy this stuff am I correct in assuming the size I need is the 32mm bottle trap. The diameters you see in the attached photo are ODs obviously. The pipe bend marked number 2...

    Rejointing concrete patio slabs

I'm about to repoint/rejoint (or whatever you call it) 450x450 concrete slabs with tapered sides (11mm down to 3mm gaps, c25mm deep) and the area is 35sqm. Easy Joint was one of the few compounds that would work with gaps of 3mm. I've cleared out all the old jointing and am ready to go. I've...

New conservatory, are my doors on the wrong way round??

Yes I was wondering about that when I was writing the original post but double glazing glass is pretty tough so it'll make a lot of noise. As long as those hinges simply can't be unscrewed then that's my major concern dealt with. I just think it was pretty bl@@dy careless of them to not fit the...

New conservatory, are my doors on the wrong way round??

Okay thanks for the info. Yes they do have threads, they just forgotten to put the grub screws in. I'm curious and  what's a french door dg unit?

New conservatory, are my doors on the wrong way round??

So the Allen key hinge bolt can't be turned if there is a grub screw? I would have thought the leverage exerted from the allen key would have been sufficent to negate the effect of a grub screw unless you are saying the grub screw actually screws into rather than onto or pinch the shaft of the...
