Another Mondeo problem - gear changing

Mm I think the bite point's more or less in the middle.

Another Mondeo problem - gear changing

Thanks for the further replies! When I say "while moving" I mean things like when the lights have gone green but there's a queue of cars - so you have to slow up too much to stay in 2nd but then pull off again before you've totally parked up... It's a 2 litre, forgot to say that before!

Another Mondeo problem - gear changing

Reverse gear is fine, no crunching. It really is just changing down to second (to an extent) and especially going down to first from a higher gear. Sometimes it just won't go in at all, other times it will but only when shoved really hard. It doesn't make any noise... it almost feels more...

Another Mondeo problem - gear changing

Thanks for replying! Yes, the clutch was replaced at the same time. We haven't noticed any leaking, though haven't specifically looked for it either (not sure whether the garage did).

Another Mondeo problem - gear changing

I've posted before about problems with our Mondeo - it's a 2005 TDCi estate, think it's got about 85000 miles on. We had to get the dual mass flywheel replaced a while ago, and since around the time that was done (but not 100% sure it was exactly after that), I've been finding it much harder...

Tips to make a well-used tumble dryer dry better?

We have a Creda condenser dryer which I think is about 8 years old, it's been used quite heavily in recent years due to the kids. It is still running OK (still turns, heats fine etc) so I don't think anything's actually broken, but over time it seems to have got less efficient at drying - I...

Replacing integrated fridge freezer with a tall fridge?

Thanks, that's good to know! We are still deciding whether to just get another fridge-freezer or 2 separates, but at least then we have the option. The old one is a slider fit so it sounds as though that should work.

Replacing integrated fridge freezer with a tall fridge?

I am interested in whether this would work. Our fridge freezer seems to have died and probably isn't going to be worth replacing. It is an integrated one (55/45 ratio I think?) with 2 separate cabinet doors at the moment, for the fridge and freezer parts. But we were wondering about replacing...

Weird problem with regular engine surges at higher speeds

Just an update for anyone who was interested or people who might be searching for info on the same problem in future! The issue turned out to be with the EGR valve, which was clogged up. The garage blanked the valve as they said if it was replaced it would just clog up again in a while...

Weird problem with regular engine surges at higher speeds

Thanks for the replies! We suspected something related to the engine management, partly because the surging is so regular. Anyway it's going to the garage on Friday for an MOT and looking into this, so hopefully they will be able to figure out what's wrong...

Weird problem with regular engine surges at higher speeds

We are having a weird problem with our Mondeo (diesel estate) at the moment and wondered if anyone can help? Recently I've noticed that at higher speeds (usually around 50-60mph or more) the engine seems to be doing sort of pulses - regular surges and drops, as if the accelerator was...

2 problems with Mondeo, any advice?

Just a (belated) update! We have just had the car in to two different garages, it had to have a new front crash sensor at the Ford garage for the airbag problem, and they reckoned it did indeed have a knackered flywheel too - but they quoted £2k to replace it so we decided to look elsewhere...

What does this mean? Pressure sensor fault/leak-off tests?

Hm interesting! I was thinking of only getting them to do the airbag thing and maybe look at the starter motor initially, as we definitely need someone to look at that, so while it's there... But there were a whole list of other things they mentioned, and we can't afford to get them all done...

What does this mean? Pressure sensor fault/leak-off tests?

It drives OK but has had an occasional starting problem (which I posted about once before! - it makes a loud whirr but won't start until after several tries) and the only warning light coming on is the airbag light - which seems to be a problem with the front crash sensor so am going to have to...

What does this mean? Pressure sensor fault/leak-off tests?

Oh dear... is it likely to be urgent then? Or can we leave it for a little bit until we've got over paying for all the other bits that need fixing?

What does this mean? Pressure sensor fault/leak-off tests?

Hi I'm just hoping for some help understanding this please! We've had the car in the garage for various (other) problems, but they mentioned a check had shown a fault code for the rear pressure sensor and I think he said it needed leak-off tests doing. But every time they phone the line is...

2 problems with Mondeo, any advice?

Wow what a fast reply, thanks v much! :D Definitely some things to think about there, will have a look at it later on after work. The thing about the airbag light sounds very likely, we have to adjust the seat often due to different-sized drivers so that could well have loosened the wires...

2 problems with Mondeo, any advice?

Hi, we are having 2 problems with our relatively recently bought (second hand) Mondeo. It is an '05 diesel estate with just over 80,000 miles on. Up till now it has been running fine apart from a bit of a squeak from one wheel occasionally, but now 2 problems have appeared: Firstly, the...

Any lock experts? Key sticking in lock

Thanks again - cross posted! Where would the securing screw be? Is the barrel the same as the cylinder? The only screws visible once it's put back together are two securing the inside doorhandle panel, and the ones down the lock strip holding it onto the door.

Any lock experts? Key sticking in lock

Thanks! Re the keys - I don't know whether the one involved the first time was an original or a copy, as far as I remember it was one of those we were given by the previous owners when we moved in, but not sure whether it was a copy they had made or an original. When it happened the...
