    ~140mm downlights

The thing is, those adapter plates are only IP20, which is not good for a bathroom. Or does the adapter not matter, as long as I use a suitably IP-rated actual light.

    ~140mm downlights

Hey, Do they exist? I have an inline fan whose grill is 140mm. I'd like to change my single ceiling light for 3 downlights and have them match the diamter of the fan grill for aesthetics. In chrome. Thanks!

    Dowels

Hey, Can you buy proper dowels in long lengths and bigger diameters? I just made a rustic bench out of some scrap sleepers and ended up making 100mm (square) dowels, with 50mm going into each piece. That meant making 50mm deep square holes! Great little project to practice fine chisel work...

    Pan Connector weep

Well completely randomly it has fixed itself. Only thing I can assume is when I pulled it all apart to check it, I cleaned the seal (and didn't dry it), so the wet seal might have been the cause. Then over the last few days it's dried itself out and created a better seal. Does that seem...

    Pan Connector weep

It's a concealed cistern install so not easy to get a good pic with it all in. When I push it home I can feel it slip back on the pan. Maybe the seal is shagged - can they be replaced?

    Pan Connector weep

Hey, I have this problem. I have a McAlpine flexible connector (something like http://www.plumbers-mate-sales.co.uk/mcalpine-long-flexible-plain-end-pan-connector-wc-f26p---40005046-438-p.asp) that is solvent welded onto the stack so can't just easily swap it. From what I can tell, when I...

    Torsion hinge - for doors

Is there anything you can do to 'tighten' a butt hinge to stop it 'swinging' so freely?

    Torsion hinge - for doors

Thanks. The doors do close properly and tight. What I mean is when the door is fully open and you get a gush of wind the door swings into the lining and 'bounces' on the latch (not in it) if that makes sense because of the wind. So you either have shut the door properly or wedge it open.

    Torsion hinge - for doors

Hey, I've seen these before - http://www.rockler.com/lid-stay-torsion-hinge-lid-support-satin-nickel Can you get them for standard internal doors, to replace normal butt hinges. I have wood flooring everywhere downstairs so have clearance underneath to stop rubbing. That means the doors...

    Ticking pipe/rads

I know it's nothing to worry about, it's just bloody annoying.

    Ticking pipe/rads

Nope, they're all on - the rads were fitted before decorating so I took them off to decorate.

    Ticking pipe/rads

Well there is a better fix, because those hoses are not suitable for CH. Normal Speedfit pipe and fittings?

    Ticking pipe/rads

Hey, We moved in to our current house in June 2013. Over the next few months we gutted the entire place. That included replacing all rads, lockshields and TRVs (though CH was already in place). As per the title, we get ticking noises in the morning when the CH comes on, from all the rads...

    Flow/Pressure reduction

Following on from this thread I have the same as the OP in that thread. Water flow insanely good, don't want to reduce the stop cock because I want that great flow for my boiler and in turn shower! So want point-of-use regulators. The way my pipework is, I wouldn't be able to 'fit' those...

    Washing machine/Dishwasher connectors

Yes that is correct, but I was wondering if they're available in parallel. They don't seem to be so I think this is the only option. Thanks

    Washing machine/Dishwasher connectors

Hey, They tend to come with a isolation valves and I already have iso values in place. Am I right in saying they are 15mm x 3/4". Can you get parallel male irons, which I understand are better for use with rubber washer based connectors (appliance inlet hoses) in 15mm x 3/4"? I used the...

    Combi Boiler temperature dials

As long as it's not "wrong" it's fine. Though I've seen there's a Cycle Rate option on the CM927 (not CMT927, sorry). It's set to 6 per hour (default). We have the stat on the stand and sometimes (rarely) take it with us to bed. It's normally in the open plan lounge/dining room, on a shelf...

    Combi Boiler temperature dials

How would I know if it's the boiler cycling or the room stat cycling? It's still happening. The stat is the Honeywell CMT927. I can see it firing up the boiler (the little flame icon comes on), then when the Room temp reaches the Target temp, the flame icon goes out, turning the boiler off...

    Power to a Shed

That's fine. You do know that the shed will not be able to run more than 13A in that case? Out of interest, where is the CU in relation to where you're planning to put the FCU (spur)?

    Power to a Shed

The shed is 4 ft. from the boiler house. How far is the shed from the house? If also 4 ft. then I agree it's not difference. But if it's 20 ft.... bit more digging to do! :)
