    Pex pipe-boiler: aerial distance

I am aware about the balancing need, and will additionally put valves on the 15mm to reduce the flow if needed, besides fiddling with radiator valves. Could you please give a bit more detail about being "a little more careful"? Does this refer to balancing the radiators or to something else...

    Pex pipe-boiler: aerial distance

My plan is to place two reducing (22 -> 15mm) tees on the 22mm pipe, one on the feed and one on the return. The new 15mm branches will feed two new radiators via more teeing, and I plan to make them with barrier pex. But the reducing tee on the feed, in particular, will be positioned in a...

    Pex pipe-boiler: aerial distance

I am adding radiators to my 2-pipe pumped, vented central heating (UK). The whole piping is copper 22mm and microbore, and I'm extending it with 15mm pex barrier pipe graded for central heating. I know that the first bit of pipes connected to the boiler must be copper, which is the case...

    CH drain valve won't shut

Thanks, since the old valve is in an awkward position, I just left it and placed the new service valve past it, hope that will be fine. But now I have bigger problems: upon refilling, no radiator will bleed, the system looks empty. I suspect a blocked feed, expect a separate post! :)

    CH drain valve won't shut

The problem is I have no idea where the pipe past the broken valve ends. It goes somewhere to the bottom part of second picture, which I cannot see. I drained the system hoping it ends in the waste piping, but now you are making me wonder.

    CH drain valve won't shut

Today I drained my CH/HW. This is a standard vented, pumped S plan with two electric valves, and I'm in UK. I was lucky enough to have a drain valve underneath ground floor, relatively accessible, see pics: However, upon refilling the system, I found out that that valve will rotate...

Contact surface between subfloor and joists

Two reasons: 1) I had to cut two planks to access the area I needed. By replacing the two original pieces with a single one, I hope to increase the strength of the subflooring. Does that make sense? 2) To remove them, I had to damage the two pieces of chipwood. Yes, that's what I hope to...

Contact surface between subfloor and joists

I had to remove portions of the existing subfloor chipboard panels (18mm depth), which now I need to replace (I already bought a new P5 panel). The problem is that one edge of the hole is irregular, and I'm worried that parts of the new chipboard won't have sufficient resting contact with the...

    Sealing skirted bathtub

Ok, thanks. I suspected and dreaded that. I asked just in case there were a way to escape the bother of removing that strip.

    Sealing skirted bathtub

There are plenty of tutorials for sealing/caulking bathtubs. However, my bathtub has a kind of skirting around its edge, as in picture: How do I go about that? Should I caulk both edges? I plan to use standard silicone, would that be good for both? Is there any particular I should keep in mind...

    Oscillating multi-tool blades compatibility

UPDATE: I just received an answer from the ebay seller to the original question: Sounds good, whatever that means. So now at least I have a reason to hope that the tool will outlast the blades :)

    Oscillating multi-tool blades compatibility

LOL, that's very encouraging :D Yes, I wish I had known of them earlier: I was long unsure about which power tool to get for the jobs I need to do, and now I realise that these oscillating things are probably the most versatile. Until I made my mind, I missed the Aldi one above (I saw it in an...

    Oscillating multi-tool blades compatibility

Thank you! Interesting information. I will ask Saxton directly. In the meantime, I found this link http://www.toolcobber.com.au/manufacturers/power-tool-manufacturers/xu1-power-tools/ identifying XU as a rebrand of Ozito mainly sold through Bunnings Warehouse (Australian stuff, apparently). I...

    Oscillating multi-tool blades compatibility

Ok, I have found a picture of the item I want to buy, showing also the connection form for the blades: Maybe somebody with more knowledge than me can guess whether that is compatible with some blade brand?

Do you mean that they are universal?

    Oscillating multi-tool blades compatibility

Hi, I've never used a multi-tool, and I'm thinking of buying this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332945384811 However, I have a question: will I be able to mount on it the blades from other brands (e.g., Fein, Makita, Bosch). Do they all use a standardised mounting mechanism? TIA

What kind of screw for rawlplug uno?

I have this kind of anchors (plugs): rawlplug uno https://www.rawlplug.co.uk/product/uno-universal-plug/ The sizes of screw it accepts are clear; however, there is a lot more to screws besides sizes. Despite googling hard, I couldn't understand what type of screws they should go with: wood...
