    Shower Pump

I fitted a Salamander shower pump under my bath. I have hot and cold water pipes coming up through the floorboards which used to connect straight to my bath mixer tap. I changed this so a pump sits in between the pipes coming through the floor boards and the mixer tap. Everything was fine...

    Bay window with leaking roof

Would I benefit from putting some lead flashing under the first course of tiles and straight into the gutter? I am thinking that maybe the wind is lifting the felt and allowing water to be blown straight in. The leak only occurs when it is windy and heavy rain.

    Bay window with leaking roof

Forgive me if i am not entirely clear but I have not had chance to go up on the roof recently. Basically, my bay window in the upstairs bedroom is leaking through the plasterboard. This occurred roughly 8 months ago and so i removed the tiles and saw that some of the felt was damaged. I...

How easy is it to replace brake pads and discs?

It used to be a common prob on some of the vauxhalls...maybe not Nova. The seals are double lipped these days to prevent this happening but can still happen if you push/wind piston back too quick. Ask around and let me know if people heard of this I was always taught to undo nipple and...

How easy is it to replace brake pads and discs?

You have not done much work on Vauxhalls then?? Very common for the seals to reverse, particularly on the older models. You honestly never undo the bleed nipple to push the piston back??? Just force it back??

How easy is it to replace brake pads and discs?

Everyone makes it sound so simple. few bolts, few screws and jobs done lol...... if u work like a monkey than yes!!! its that easy!! so what about undoing the bleed nipple before you push the piston back to prevent fluid from disturbing the seals in the slave/master cylinder???? And...

Hot Water Only But 1 Rad Heats Up

Thanks I dont think this is the issue though as i only noticed this happening this week. Almost certain it was not warming up about a month ago Could it be the directional control valve. If so is the only solution to just change it or can you strip them down and have a look? Also...

Hot Water Only But 1 Rad Heats Up

    Weatherproof light switch

I asked one question and got a few sensible and very helpful replies which were spoiled by a stream of bickers and ego fuelled "I know more than u mentality" type comments! WHat type of site is this? Is it to help people and have sensible discussions or prove you know the most?? Plus some...

    Weatherproof light switch

I agree there are better ways to do this but why would reputable firms sell these things if you then need to buy lots of extra bits to make it safe? The round cable i am talking about is usually white. I dont think this is specifically outdoor cable!!!

    Weatherproof light switch

I have seen soooooo many external lights wired up with two core and earth cable????? The wire will be exposed to sunlight but how much damage can this cause? The use of silicone is me taking extra precaution as i am not comfortable with just using the grommit but YES it states clearly that...
